Overview
So I’ve stayed at Parkhotel Obermenzing a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot when I need something reliable without the downtown Munich chaos. The thing about this place is that it sits in this quiet residential pocket of Obermenzing – you know, one of those neighborhoods that feels properly Bavarian but isn’t trying to be all touristy about it. It’s actually refreshing because you’ll wake up to the sound of birds instead of trams clanking by at 6 AM.
The hotel itself is what I’d call unpretentious in the best way. Sure, it’s a 3-star place, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that actually matter. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the beds are genuinely good (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What I really appreciate is how quiet it gets at night; these residential streets don’t have much traffic, so you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer. The staff has this low-key efficiency going on too – they know what they’re doing without making a big show of it. Check-in is always smooth, and they’ve got that German punctuality thing down without being rigid about it.
Here’s what makes this spot work particularly well: you’re maybe a 15-minute S-Bahn ride from the city center, but you’re also walking distance to some genuinely local spots that most tourists never stumble across. There’s this little bakery just down the street that does incredible pretzels in the morning, and if you head toward Schloss Blutenburg – which is basically around the corner – you’ll find these walking paths along the Würm river that are perfect for shaking off jet lag or just clearing your head. The parking situation is straightforward too, which, let me tell you, is not something you can say about most places in Munich. I mean, you’re not going to get blown away by luxury here, but sometimes what you want is a place that just works without any drama. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that consistently delivers exactly what it promises, and honestly, that’s worth a lot when you’re traveling.

Guest Reviews
Beautiful location and a great spot to enjoy the city from
Good hotel if you are coming to the city for the week.
Lots of parking space in the neighbourhood. Helpful staff.
What could be improved: Tip for staff: the fridge in the cabinet is cooking itself, it needs more airflow.
This is a nice hotel in an outer area of Munich. I chose it because it had a car park and was an easy drive to Dachau as well as being close to a train line. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the S2 trainline and the trip to central Munich is very quick (this trainline also goes to Dachau.) There is also a tram stop (number 17 tram) 10 minutes walk at the end of the street which takes you directly to the Schloss Nymphenburg and gardens area as well as downtown. The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms and bathrooms are very good. The only downside for me was that this is a very, very quiet area and there is no street life, cafes or restaurant choices nearby. That said, the schnitzel at the hotel restaurant is great and if you are after a very quiet location then it's perfect.
What could be improved: People with mobility issues should be aware that the hotel is on 3 floors and there is no lift. This is not mentioned. When I found out my room was on the 3rd floor but there was not lift, I was told you can request a ground floor room. Prospective guests should know this beforehand!!!
