Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Europäischer Hof on Bayerstrasse, you immediately get that classic European hotel vibe — it’s not trying to be flashy, just solid and welcoming. The building has this understated charm that honestly feels more authentic than some of the newer places around Munich. You know what struck me most? How the staff actually remembered my name after the first day, which doesn’t happen everywhere these days.
Perfect Location
This three-star hotel sits right in Ludwigsvorstadt, and I mean right where you want to be. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which sounds busy but actually works perfectly — you can hop on the S-Bahn to anywhere, including straight to the airport. The Oktoberfest grounds are close enough that you could stumble back (well, maybe not stumble), and Marienplatz is an easy stroll through some really nice streets. I get why couples rate the location so highly — there’s something romantic about being able to walk everywhere without dealing with tourist crowds constantly.
The Room Experience
My room was what I’d call “European practical” — not huge, but everything you need is there and it’s done well. The bed was actually comfortable (you never know with older hotels), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy marble. What I appreciated was how quiet it stayed despite being so central — the windows do their job. The decor feels a bit dated, sure, but it’s clean and functional, and there’s something to be said for that old-school European hotel atmosphere.
Breakfast and Amenities
The breakfast buffet surprised me in the best way — they’ve got continental options, but also cater to gluten-free needs, which shows they’re paying attention to what guests actually want. I’m talking proper German bread, decent coffee, and fresh fruit that doesn’t look like it’s been sitting there since yesterday. The restaurant area gets good morning light, and you can plan your day without feeling rushed. They’ve also got private parking right at the hotel, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central Munich, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Europäischer Hof — it’s got this loyal following for good reason. I noticed quite a few guests who were clearly regulars, chatting with staff like old friends. It’s not about having the fanciest amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies; it’s about getting the fundamentals right and treating people well. The location score of 9.3 isn’t just numbers — when you’re standing in Marienplatz fifteen minutes after leaving your hotel room, or catching an early flight without the stress of complicated transfers, you understand why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that makes Munich feel manageable and welcoming, especially if you want to experience the city like someone who actually lives there rather than just passing through.
Hotels in Munich offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Alpine metropolis, with easy access to castles, museums, and traditional German experiences.

Well located boutique style hotel directly across from Munich train station. Excellent breakfast, pleasant, helpful staff
What could be improved: No complaints
Hotel doesn’t look much from the outside but rooms are clean and spacious (if a little dated) and the staff are very friendly and eager to help. Really good breakfast buffet as well!
What could be improved: Rooms/bathrooms could do with an update but all were very clean and had no issues.
Staff were so accommodating. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Great bathroom. Super breakfast with lots of variety.
What could be improved: Nothing really. Coffee and tea facilities would have been nice in the room but then you can’t have it all.
The location was excellent. It was close to the train station and the downtown area was within a short walking distance. Breakfast was good with many options available. The room was clean with a a small fridge.
What could be improved: The only complaint I have is that unless the shower head is centered in the tub the water makes its way to the bathroom floor even with the shower curtain tucked in. That was really my only complaint.
Excellent location for rail travellers and we had a surprise upgrade to a very large and comfy room. Excellent breakfast included and an easy walk to our favourite Augustiner Keller for supper.
