Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to NP Hotel Wallis on Schwanthalerstrasse, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s one of those solid 3-star places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. But you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need in Munich, especially when you’re in Ludwigsvorstadt where the real city energy actually lives.
The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re literally a 5-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which I mean, sounds touristy until you realize how incredibly useful that is. Not just for trains – there’s this whole underground shopping world there, plus you can grab everything from döner to proper Bavarian breakfast without dealing with the Marienplatz crowds. The hotel sits on a street that feels authentically Munich, with those typical apartment buildings and small shops where locals actually go. You’ll hear some street noise (it’s a city, after all), but nothing that decent windows can’t handle, and honestly the sounds of real Munich life are kind of charming – delivery trucks in the morning, people heading to work, the occasional late-night conversation drifting up from the sidewalk.
What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything felt. The lobby has this clean, no-nonsense vibe – not trying to impress you with marble or chandeliers, just good lighting and comfortable seating where you can actually plan your day without feeling rushed. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to Schwabing for dinner, the desk clerk didn’t just point me toward the U-Bahn map – he told me which car to get on for the easiest exit at Münchener Freiheit. Those little details matter when you’re figuring out a new city. The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run 3-star – clean lines, decent beds, bathrooms that work properly. Nothing fancy, but I slept well and the shower had actual water pressure, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed. Storage space is adequate if you pack smart, and there’s enough surface area to spread out your daily stuff without living out of a suitcase. The windows open properly too, which is surprisingly rare and perfect for those cool Munich mornings when you want fresh air but not frozen fingers. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I was planning to explore beyond the obvious tourist circuit – you’re positioned perfectly to discover the Munich that locals know, without paying for amenities you probably won’t use anyway.

Nice place with nice rooms but location is weird. – Reizin from Israel – July 20, 2025 (7/10)
Nice rooms,very clean
What could be improved: Weird locationOverall I liked the hotel a lot even though it was in the middle of a construction site. The noise was minimally and did – Susanne from United States – July 8, 2025 (9/10)
Convenient location, in walking distance to Downtown.
What could be improved: I tried the breakfast once. I am living in the USA for more than forty years, that is why I was looking forward to better rolls and bread in Germany. I was disappointed. Also they could have offered boiled eggs at least. I am originally from Hamburg, Germany and I guess the food in Bavaria is not exactly the same.Highly recommend Hotel Wallis for a short city break – Detta from Ireland – June 1, 2025 (9/10)

Well located. Old hotel but well maintained.
It has 24 hours reception.
What could be improved: Shower curtain wasn't clean.Great location, decent hotel – Albalah from United States – March 30, 2025 (8/10)
It was close to the train station and close to the central downtown area. The breakfast was very good. However, the neighborhood is very questionable and construction everywhere making you feel a little unsafe. Once you’re in the hotel, it is better. There was a smell in the room that dissipated about an hour after we turned on the air… the best part was it location
