Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Design-Hotel JAMS feels like stepping into someone’s really well-curated apartment — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. This four-star property sits quietly on Stubenvollstraße in Au-Haidhausen, and honestly, the neighborhood choice is brilliant. You’re close enough to Munich‘s center that you can walk to most places, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds right outside your door.
The Au-Haidhausen Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — Au-Haidhausen is where actual Munich residents live and hang out. You’ve got the Isar River literally a few minutes’ walk away, perfect for morning runs or evening strolls. The area has this relaxed, almost village-like feel despite being so central. There’s a reason couples rate the location 9.1 out of 10 — it’s romantic without trying too hard, you know? Plus, you’re walking distance to the Deutsches Museum and Maximilianstraße if you want to do the tourist thing.
The Room Experience
The design aesthetic here is what I’d call “modern minimalist with personality.” Each room feels thoughtfully put together rather than cookie-cutter corporate. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have that clean, spa-like quality that makes you want to take longer showers than necessary. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting — they’ve actually thought about how the space feels at different times of day, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re trying to unwind after walking around Munich all day.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is surprisingly good — and I say surprisingly because hotel breakfasts can be hit or miss. They do a proper continental spread, but what caught my attention was how well they handle dietary restrictions. The vegan options aren’t just an afterthought, and the buffet setup actually flows well (no awkward crowding around the coffee machine). I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but it’s the kind of solid start to the day that sets a good tone for exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a place that draws repeat visitors, and JAMS definitely has that going for it. I think it comes down to the fact that they’ve nailed the balance between being design-forward and actually comfortable. You’re not sacrificing practicality for style, which happens more often than it should in boutique hotels. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood and can point you toward things you wouldn’t find in guidebooks. Plus, that location score of 9.0 isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk to most of what you want to see, and when you can’t, public transport connections are right there. It’s the kind of place that makes Munich feel manageable and welcoming rather than overwhelming.
Hotel in Munich booking should be done early, especially during Oktoberfest when the city hosts the world’s largest beer festival and cultural celebration.

Guest Reviews
Great location on the centre of Munich. A short walk from the Deutsches Museum and the Moffatwerk. Tram stop almost outside the front door and a short walk from the underground.
great location closeby the water and concert location Muffathalle/Ampere
, friendly staff, amazing room, bright, clean and very comfy bed
What could be improved: breakfast selection was very small. no vegan butter or yoghurt option, no cut fresh fruit
Great breakfast and great location
What could be improved: Some people might like bigger rooms but I was very satisfied with mine
One of the highlights was the vinyl player in the room — such a unique touch that added to the cozy atmosphere. It didn’t work at first, but after two days, the staff replaced it with another one, and it was worth the wait! Listening to music on vinyl made the stay feel even more special. Breakfast was also great, with a good selection of cheese and fruits. A special shout-out to Vanessa at the front desk — she was lovely! Friendly, helpful, and always with a warm smile, she made my whole stay even more enjoyable.
What could be improved: n/a
Comfortabel beds and pillow, nice atmosphere and good location. All just very good
What could be improved: Nothing really
Breakfast was ok. Not a lot of choice; some cheeses, cucumber and tomato. There was a selection of sliced meat. For 20€ it did not feel like good value. The chef offers several egg options which was appreciated.
The room was comfortable, clean, and spacious
The location was really good for travelling to and from the Hbf, and is ideally located next to the Isar and park, and a short walk from the center of the city.
Having a choice of records to play in the room was a nice touch that I appreciated.
What could be improved: More choice at breakfast
Nice hotel, clean and comfy. Perfect king size bed 😍 Friendly staff. Good location..
What could be improved: Other 4 stars hotels offer more.. Like free tea or coffee in the room.. Were only 2 free bottles of water.. Breakfast was rather modest..
Staff, characterful modern rooms, location
What could be improved: Cobwebs in the bathroom
Easy to find, very comfortable and friendly staff always ready to help
What could be improved: Need a coffee machine or kettle to make it complete
Amazing breakfast included. Spacious room. Friendly staff. A little bit quirky! Heated floors, comfy beds, dark curtains, great shower.
What could be improved: Lighting in room was bad (winter).
