Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Design-Hotel JAMS? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to the “design hotel” label without being pretentious about it. I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of four-star places that throw around fancy terms but feel completely generic once you’re inside – this isn’t one of them.

The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this interesting mix of industrial elements with warmer touches that somehow works perfectly. The concrete floors should feel cold, but they’ve got these amazing area rugs and the lighting is so well thought out that it creates this cozy, almost intimate atmosphere. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to make each space feel distinct – the bar area has a completely different vibe from the breakfast spot, even though they’re essentially in the same open plan. The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were talking about when I asked about local spots, which honestly doesn’t happen as often as it should.

Here’s the thing though – and I appreciated this – they haven’t sacrificed comfort for style. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out with actual storage space (revolutionary concept, I know), and the beds are seriously comfortable. The bathroom setup is clever too, with this glass partition that you can actually make private when you need to. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period, but the soundproofing between rooms was solid. Only minor thing I noticed was that the elevator can get a bit slow during peak hours, but that’s pretty standard for boutique places this size. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well while adding those extra touches that stick with you. If you’re someone who appreciates good design but doesn’t want to feel like you’re staying in a museum, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Hotel in Munich booking should be done early, especially during Oktoberfest when the city hosts the world’s largest beer festival and cultural celebration.

  Great location on the centre of Munich. A short walk from the Deutsches Museum and the Moffatwerk. Tram stop almost outside the front door and a short walk from the underground.

  One of the highlights was the vinyl player in the room — such a unique touch that added to the cozy atmosphere. It didn’t work at first, but after two days, the staff replaced it with another one, and it was worth the wait! Listening to music on vinyl made the stay feel even more special. Breakfast was also great, with a good selection of cheese and fruits. A special shout-out to Vanessa at the front desk — she was lovely! Friendly, helpful, and always with a warm smile, she made my whole stay even more enjoyable.

  Breakfast was ok. Not a lot of choice; some cheeses, cucumber and tomato. There was a selection of sliced meat. For 20€ it did not feel like good value. The chef offers several egg options which was appreciated.

  The location was really good for travelling to and from the Hbf, and is ideally located next to the Isar and park, and a short walk from the center of the city.
  Having a choice of records to play in the room was a nice touch that I appreciated.
