Overview
First Impressions
The Würmtaler Gästehaus sits quietly on Rottenbucher Straße, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star guesthouse doesn’t try to be flashy — it’s the kind of place where you immediately feel like you’ve found a local secret. The building has that solid Bavarian feel, and when I walked up to the entrance, I could tell this wasn’t your typical tourist trap. You know what struck me most? How genuinely welcoming the staff seemed, like they actually cared about making sure I had everything I needed.
Location & Getting Around
Being in Munich but slightly outside the city center actually works in your favor here. The area feels residential and authentic — you’re not dodging tour groups every time you step outside. I mean, couples consistently rate the location 8.9 out of 10, and after spending time there, I get why. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels like real Munich life. The parking situation is brilliant too — free private spots right at the hotel, which honestly saves you a fortune and a headache if you’re driving around Bavaria.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what I hoped for — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. The furnishings felt sturdy and well-maintained, which you don’t always get at this price point. What I appreciated most was how quiet everything was at night; the windows actually blocked out street noise, so I slept better than I expected. The bathroom was compact but efficient, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water — those little things that can make or break a stay.
Breakfast & Daily Rhythms
The breakfast buffet surprised me in the best way. It’s not elaborate, but everything was fresh and there were enough options to keep me happy for several mornings. I found myself looking forward to starting each day there — good coffee, fresh bread, and that relaxed pace you want when you’re not rushing to catch a tour bus. The dining area has this cozy, almost family-like atmosphere where you might end up chatting with other guests about their Munich plans. The staff made sure everything was replenished throughout the morning.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Würmtaler Gästehaus — it has more repeat guests than most places, and that tells you everything you need to know. People come back because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. The 8.2 rating reflects what I experienced: solid value, genuine hospitality, and that rare feeling of staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Munich, but for travelers who want comfort, authenticity, and a base for exploring Bavaria, it hits all the right notes. This guesthouse represents the best of Bavarian hospitality.
Hotel in Munich booking should be done early, especially during Oktoberfest when the city hosts the world’s largest beer festival and cultural celebration.

Guest Reviews
nice hotel, nice rooms, very good breakfast, cordial people
I’ve known this property since my childhood and there is something very comforting in its long survival in a location with few hotels. It has seen many upgrades and remains a solid, trustworthy, clean, quiet, traditional, and excellent establishment which I will continue to choose.
Close to the s bahn to get into Munich. Close to my relatives house.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was all good.
Rooms were well kept and clean. The property is old, but they try their best to remodel and keep furniture, furnishings and fixtures up to date. Our room came with a mini-fridge, and was decently equipped. The breakfast was fairly decent, I would say 4 out of 5. You could get eggs cooked to order, but the rest of the offerings were the same every day. It would be nice to have some kind of breakfast potatoes or hashbrowns, too! The quality of the food was excellent, though!
What could be improved: The property doesn't have a microwave on the property at all. It'd be nice to have one to use to reheat a leftover meal for lunch of dinner.
Decent distance to the S6 train station Lochham. Nice clean room
What could be improved: Nothing
Room was good and clean. staff was nice
What could be improved: Wifi was not so good
Nice hotel.
The breakfast was exemplary. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. Its been a long while since I have had such tasty breakfast. I have had good breakfasts at several hotels, but this was certainly a notch better
What could be improved: The wifi connection was really poor. I could not get a lot of work done at the hotel.
What could be improved: There was a toaster for breakfast but no bread to put in the toaster
What a lovely hotel....the Staff was so welcoming. We really enjoyed Tony, Angela and their dog, Emma (see photos). They were so nice and surprised us with a lovely note, chocolates and a nice champagne upon arrival! The room is great and there is a bar area in the reception and outdoor seating area so it's nice to have space to go outside of the room, too. There is also a good breakfast and plenty of off-street parking. but mostly - its is so comfortable and the owners and staff are so nice. We sat on the private patio area and enjoyed the evening...
What could be improved: this is Europe and it is warm in the summer - perhaps a fan in the room would be a nice addition. Otherwise it is perfect.
