THE FLAG Meiller Gärten Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to THE FLAG Meiller Gärten, you immediately notice how this three-star hotel manages to feel both modern and welcoming without trying too hard. The building sits in Munich’s Moosach district, and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet and residential the area feels — you’re still connected to the city, but there’s this nice sense of being away from the tourist crowds that pack the city center.
Location & Getting Around
Moosach is one of those neighborhoods that locals know but visitors often overlook, which actually works in your favor. You’re about 20 minutes from Munich’s main attractions by public transport, and the U-Bahn connections are really straightforward once you get the hang of it. What I particularly liked is that couples seem to absolutely love staying here — the area has this relaxed vibe that’s perfect for exploring together without feeling rushed. There’s parking right on-site too, which is honestly a huge relief if you’re driving in Munich (trust me on this one).
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and well-thought-out, with that efficient German design approach that just makes sense. Nothing fancy, but everything you need is there and it works properly — which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how often hotels mess this up. The beds are comfortable, and there’s decent storage space for your stuff. I mean, you’re not getting premium finishes here, but for a three-star place, the quality definitely exceeds what you’d expect for the price point.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast buffet is actually pretty solid — they’ve got the German breakfast staples covered, plus some international options that don’t feel like an afterthought. I found myself going back for seconds on the fresh bread selection, and the coffee was better than I expected (which matters more than you might think when you’re starting your day). You won’t find a full restaurant here, but honestly, being in a residential area means you’ve got some authentic local dining spots within walking distance that most tourists never discover.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being a practical base for exploring Munich while still feeling like a proper retreat at the end of the day. The 8.5 rating makes total sense when you experience it — it’s one of those hotels that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers consistently on what it promises. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like a well-run local business than a corporate chain. If you want to experience Munich without paying city-center prices or dealing with the constant buzz of tourist areas, this spot really delivers.

Fantastic location. 5 Min to Metro (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Bus + Tram), 15-20 min to the city center. Friendly staff. Easily accessible. Clean and spacious.
What could be improved: Would be great if there could be hangers for towels in the bathroom ie outside/on the shower door.Richard from United Kingdom – 20 April 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location close to the metro, allowing easy access around the area. The hotel was clean and comfy – the receptionist (Nina) was super helpful on the day of our departure. The surrounding area was nice and quiet.
What could be improved: The kitchenettes were a little under-resourced (we had to ask for a kettle.John from United States – 15 April 2025 (9/10)

Location is on S1 train Line between airport and Munich central train station and Marienplatz. 5 mins walk after off the train. Nice and quiet residential area yet on the other side of train tracks, through underground, there is U3 train as well and two supermarkets, a lots of shops and restaurants and # 51 bus to Nymphenburg palace.

Great location in relation to the train station. It was a short walk to the train station, and then I was able to easily train into Munich for the day. Staff were helpful when asking about parking and proper train tickets. Easy parking.
What could be improved: My room key stopped working, but staff were friendly and helpful to fix it!Kinlc from Germany – 12 December 2024 (9/10)
Coffee machine in the room with pods and included breakfast was good. Lovely updated room.
What could be improved: There was a weird unfrosted window into the bathroom directly from the bed with no option to close it for privacy. It was strangeLucija from Croatia – 11 December 2024 (9/10)
My stay at The Flag was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean and actually spacious for one person. Also there were vegan breakfast options which I appreciated.

Front desk’s super helpful, the surrounding’s very quiet, rooms are equipped with smart TV so you can watch whatever you want to, definitely try their breakfast cuz it’s 🤌
What could be improved: The air conditioning system is quite complicated, but like I said, front desk is super helpful by explaining how “the best of Germany” works to me so it’s all good
