You know what’s funny about THE FLAG Meiller Gärten? I almost walked right past it the first time I was looking for it – it’s one of those places that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the street, which honestly turned out to be part of its charm. The whole setup feels more like you’re staying at a well-kept apartment building than a typical three-star property, and I mean that in the best possible way.

The “Gärten” part of the name actually makes sense once you’re inside – there’s this really pleasant garden area that most guests seem to discover by accident on their second day. I spent a good chunk of one morning there with coffee, watching locals walk their dogs and wondering why more hotels don’t do this sort of thing. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re genuinely comfortable in that unpretentious way that actually helps you sleep better. Mine had this slightly creaky wooden floor that I thought would drive me crazy, but it actually added character. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a three-star place – you know how sometimes you can barely turn around in those tiny European hotel bathrooms? Not here.

What really struck me was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about breakfast spots (the hotel breakfast was fine but nothing special), the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he drew a little route to this bakery two streets over that locals actually use. That’s the kind of detail that makes a difference when you’re trying to get a feel for a place rather than just checking off tourist boxes. The whole area has this lived-in quality that you don’t always find in hotel districts. I could hear normal life happening outside my window – people coming home from work, kids playing in courtyards – instead of just tour groups and taxi engines. Honestly, for an 8.5 rating, I was expecting something a bit more polished, but I think that rating reflects something different here. It’s not about fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies. It’s about the fact that you can actually relax without feeling like you need to be on your best behavior all the time. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, the shower had proper water pressure, and when I needed an extra pillow at 11 PM, someone brought it up without making me feel like I was causing a major inconvenience. Sometimes that’s worth more than marble bathrooms and complimentary champagne.

  Fantastic location. 5 Min to Metro (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Bus + Tram), 15-20 min to the city center. Friendly staff. Easily accessible. Clean and spacious.
  
  What could be improved: Would be great if there could be hangers for towels in the bathroom ie outside/on the shower door.

  Excellent location close to the metro, allowing easy access around the area. The hotel was clean and comfy – the receptionist (Nina) was super helpful on the day of our departure. The surrounding area was nice and quiet.

  Location is on S1 train Line between airport and Munich central train station and Marienplatz. 5 mins walk after off the train. Nice and quiet residential area yet on the other side of train tracks, through underground, there is U3 train as well and two supermarkets, a lots of shops and restaurants and # 51 bus to Nymphenburg palace.

  Clean, comfortable, close to publc transportation, good connections to the airport and city center. Staff is responsive to guests' requests even in unpleasant circumstances.

  Great location in relation to the train station. It was a short walk to the train station, and then I was able to easily train into Munich for the day. Staff were helpful when asking about parking and proper train tickets. Easy parking.
  
  What could be improved: My room key stopped working, but staff were friendly and helpful to fix it!

  What could be improved: There was a weird unfrosted window into the bathroom directly from the bed with no option to close it for privacy. It was strange

  My stay at The Flag was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean and actually spacious for one person. Also there were vegan breakfast options which I appreciated.

  Front desk’s super helpful, the surrounding’s very quiet, rooms are equipped with smart TV so you can watch whatever you want to, definitely try their breakfast cuz it’s 🤌
  
  What could be improved: The air conditioning system is quite complicated, but like I said, front desk is super helpful by explaining how “the best of Germany” works to me so it’s all good
