Overview
First Impressions
The Base Munich sits in the Feldmoching-Hasenbergl district, which honestly isn’t where most tourists end up — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star hotel has a refreshingly straightforward approach that I found quite appealing after staying at some overly fussy places in the city center. The building itself is modern and unassuming, with clean lines and a welcoming lobby that doesn’t try too hard to impress. You know what struck me most? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, not just going through the motions.
Location & Getting Around
I’ll be honest — you’re not walking to Marienplatz from here, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The hotel is well-connected by Munich’s excellent public transport system, and staying in this quieter residential area means you get a taste of how locals actually live. There’s something refreshing about stepping outside and seeing neighborhood bakeries and small shops instead of tourist traps. The private parking is a real bonus if you’re driving (and free parking in Munich is basically like finding gold), plus you can easily reach the city center or hop on the autobahn for day trips.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what I hoped for — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which matters more than fancy amenities when you’re actually trying to sleep. I appreciated the practical touches like good lighting for reading and enough outlets for all my devices. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with everything you need and nothing you don’t. It’s clear they’ve put thought into making the most of the space rather than just cramming in furniture.
Breakfast & Dining
The continental breakfast buffet surprised me in the best way — it’s not just the usual sad selection of stale pastries and instant coffee. They actually have fresh bread (this is Germany, after all), good coffee, and a decent variety of both sweet and savory options. I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but it’s a solid start to the day and saves you from hunting down breakfast in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The dining area has large windows that let in plenty of natural light, making morning meals feel less rushed and more civilized.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets The Base Munich apart is how it delivers exactly what it promises without pretending to be something it’s not. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the quieter location and the genuine value for money — you’re getting quality accommodations without paying for location premiums or unnecessary extras. The 8.2 rating reflects what I experienced: a hotel that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well. It’s the kind of place where you sleep soundly, start your day properly fed, and feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet.
To book a hotel in Munich during major Bavarian festivals, travelers need early planning as this Alpine capital draws visitors eager to experience its traditional culture and world-class museums.

What could be improved: Breakfast and Location
We really enjoyed the property. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and of course, clean.
The property had a commune area with a pool table, some couches and small tables.
It was overall very nice, quiet and pleasant. There were no issues during our stay.
Staff were super nice and friendly. The day after we arrived they made a barbeque which was so nice of them to invite us. We made some friends while there! The room we had, had everything one could ask for. The kitchen which was equipped with every single thing you need if you wanted to cook. The bed was comfy. A large TV and a table to eat and a cute small couch. A fridge a kettle and pots and pans. It felt homey and super clean.
The only downside was that it was a bit far from the City center and transportation was a little tricky for us. But we always made it back to the hotel and felt safe.
The room was eceptionally clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is located in a busy street, yet it was very quiet at night.
What could be improved: It would be great to have some water in the room.
Amazing view from the room with wide window
What could be improved: Mattress is sliding on the bed.
The check-in and check-out process was very easy, even self-service when the receptionist wasn’t available. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, with a nice design and a pleasant view from the window. Overall, it was a great stay✨
What could be improved: The location isn’t the best, as it’s a 15–20 minute walk to the subway, and the bus to the subway stop doesn’t run on Sundays or late evenings. The area feels quite industrial and a bit intimidating to walk alone at night. Also, cleaning and towel changes are only done once a week, though this wasn’t an issue for me.
The infrastructure and cleanliness.
What could be improved: They allow late check-in, but there is no staff at night and the system of card activation does not work straightforward. They hired a third company to take care of this process and we had to call this company to help us with the activation. The communication was not easy, but finally we managed. I think it is necessary to improve this self-checking process.
That it was very central for exploring the cities/towns
The hotel is good for those travelling by car. Shops and markets are close. There is a train station at a 15-20 mins walking distance. The rooms are satisfactory.
What could be improved: A kettle in the room would be nice.
Clean and tidy property with most amenities provided.
What could be improved: Location is a little far from the city but it is still walking distance to grocery shop and some restaurants.
