Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Parkhotel Obermenzing, you immediately get the sense this is a place that knows its regulars — and honestly, that’s exactly what it is. The three-star property sits quietly on Menzingerstraße, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. You know what struck me most? The parking situation — it’s actually free, which in Munich feels like finding a unicorn. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German hotel aesthetic that promises comfort without any unnecessary frills.
The Pasing-Obermenzing Advantage
Here’s the thing about this location that most tourists miss: you’re in one of Munich’s most livable neighborhoods, not some tourist trap. Pasing-Obermenzing gives you that authentic Munich residential feel while keeping you well-connected to the city center. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot 8.6 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get why. You’ve got local bakeries within walking distance, proper German restaurants where locals actually eat, and the S-Bahn connections are solid. It’s the kind of area where you can grab groceries at normal prices and feel like you’re living in Munich rather than just visiting it.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Parkhotel Obermenzing are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, functional, and surprisingly quiet given the urban setting. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly matters more than most people realize until something doesn’t work. The beds are firm in that distinctly German way, and the bathrooms are compact but efficient. What I appreciated most was the attention to basics: good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and blackout curtains that actually block light. Sometimes the simple things done right beat elaborate amenities done poorly.
Breakfast and Daily Rhythms
The breakfast buffet here is solid — not Instagram-worthy, but the kind of spread that actually fuels your day. Fresh bread (this is Germany, after all), decent coffee, and all the usual suspects you’d want in the morning. What’s nice is the timing feels relaxed rather than rushed, probably because so many guests are repeat visitors who’ve settled into the hotel’s natural rhythm. Speaking of repeat guests, there are definitely more familiar faces here than at most hotels — you’ll notice the same people at breakfast, chatting with staff who clearly know their preferences.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.5 rating this place maintains isn’t about flashy features — it’s about reliability and genuine hospitality. Staff here seem to actually care about getting things right, and that free parking situation becomes more valuable every time you don’t have to circle blocks looking for a spot or feed meters. The repeat guest loyalty tells you everything: when people keep coming back to the same three-star hotel in Munich, they’ve found something that works. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days, explore Munich properly, and not feel like you’re living out of a suitcase in some anonymous chain property.

Guest Reviews
Beautiful location and a great spot to enjoy the city from
Good hotel if you are coming to the city for the week.
Lots of parking space in the neighbourhood. Helpful staff.
What could be improved: Tip for staff: the fridge in the cabinet is cooking itself, it needs more airflow.
This is a nice hotel in an outer area of Munich. I chose it because it had a car park and was an easy drive to Dachau as well as being close to a train line. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the S2 trainline and the trip to central Munich is very quick (this trainline also goes to Dachau.) There is also a tram stop (number 17 tram) 10 minutes walk at the end of the street which takes you directly to the Schloss Nymphenburg and gardens area as well as downtown. The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms and bathrooms are very good. The only downside for me was that this is a very, very quiet area and there is no street life, cafes or restaurant choices nearby. That said, the schnitzel at the hotel restaurant is great and if you are after a very quiet location then it's perfect.
What could be improved: People with mobility issues should be aware that the hotel is on 3 floors and there is no lift. This is not mentioned. When I found out my room was on the 3rd floor but there was not lift, I was told you can request a ground floor room. Prospective guests should know this beforehand!!!
