You know what caught me off guard about Munich Rooftop Retreat? The location actually works way better than you’d expect. I mean, Sendling isn’t exactly where tourists typically end up, but that’s honestly part of its charm. Leipartstraße is this quiet residential street that feels properly Munich – not touristy Munich, but where people actually live and work. The whole Sendling district has this understated vibe that I really dig, and you’re still only about 15 minutes to Marienplatz on the U-Bahn (Harras station is your friend here, trust me).

The hotel itself sits in what looks like a converted building – nothing flashy from street level, but once you get up to reception, you start to see why they call it a “rooftop retreat.” The common areas have these massive windows that frame the city in a way that makes you want to just sit there with a coffee for way longer than planned. I spent a ridiculous amount of time on their actual rooftop terrace, which faces east toward the city center – you get these glimpses of church spires and the Alps on clear days, but it’s not one of those in-your-face panoramic views. It’s more… subtle? The kind of spot where you realize you’ve been standing there for twenty minutes just watching Munich do its thing below.

The rooms are solid 4-star territory – nothing revolutionary, but they’ve got this warm, lived-in feeling that a lot of chain hotels miss completely. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are updated without being sterile. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – Sendling can get a bit lively on weekends, especially with the younger crowd heading to and from the bars near Goetheplatz, but you honestly wouldn’t know it from inside. Parking was surprisingly painless too, which anyone who’s driven in Munich will tell you is basically a miracle. They’ve got a small garage underneath, and street parking isn’t the usual nightmare it is in Schwabing or the Altstadt.

The staff definitely knows their neighborhood – they pointed me toward this little Turkish place on Plinganserstraße that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me actual useful directions instead of just handing over a tourist map. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling attempts, just people who seemed to genuinely want you to have a good stay. The whole place has this relaxed efficiency that feels very Munich to me – not trying too hard, but getting things right.

Is it perfect? Well, the elevator is tiny and sort of grumpy, and if you’re someone who needs to be stumbling distance from the Hofbräuhaus every night, you’ll be doing some traveling. But honestly, that’s exactly why I’d stay here again. It’s got character without being quirky for the sake of it, it’s comfortable without being boring, and you get to experience Munich from a neighborhood that actually feels like Munich. Plus, that rooftop view hits different at sunset – just saying.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Munich at least two months ahead for major events like Oktoberfest, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near festival grounds.

  The place was unbelievable, wonderful rooms, amazing balconies, a wonderful view of the city skyline in the sunrise and sunset. Well equipped with home appliances and truly wonderful.

  Большое открытое пространство на крыше. Есть развлечения в доме (игры, книги, игрушки). Хорошие подушки. Много техники и разных мелочей.
  
  What could be improved: Была долгая поездка и мы рассчитывали воспользоваться сауной, она к сожалению не работала. Для того что бы получить все данные для заезда, пришлось несколько раз дополнительно связываться с хозяином. Парковка для нашей машины была возможна только на улице, приходилось искать места.

  Grote van het appartement, het was echt heel groot. Wij waren met z’n vijven maar er kunnen 7 mensen slapen. We waren op sommige momenten elkaar aan het zoeken in het appartement zo groot is het. 2 grote terrassen, wij hadden heel mooi weer dus zaten best vaak buiten te chillen. Alle faciliteiten zijn aanwezig, soms moet je even doorzoeken maar alles wat je kan bedenken heb je in huis. Er was zelfs een sauna, geen gebruik van gemaakt maar zelfs die is er. Het was schoon en de host was ook heel vriendelijk, als ik een vraag had gaf ze snel antwoord en we mochten ook iets later uit checken.
