You know what struck me first about the Munich Marriott Hotel City West? It’s actually positioned in this really smart spot where you’re still properly in Munich but not drowning in the tourist chaos of the old town. I mean, don’t get me wrong – you’ll want to hit up Marienplatz and all that, but it’s honestly refreshing to come back somewhere that feels more like where actual Müncheners live and work.

The whole vibe here is kind of refreshingly straightforward – this isn’t trying to be some boutique experience with exposed brick and Edison bulbs everywhere. It’s a solid, well-run Marriott that just happens to know what it’s doing really well. The lobby has this clean, business-traveler energy during the week, but weekends it mellows out completely. Check-in was smooth (they actually had my room ready at like 2 PM, which never happens), and honestly, the staff just gets it – they’re not overly chatty but they’re genuinely helpful when you need something. The front desk guy gave me the most useful restaurant recommendations I got my entire trip, including this little Bavarian place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.

What really won me over was how the rooms are set up – they’re not huge, but everything’s thought out in a way that makes sense. The bathroom actually has counter space (revolutionary, I know), and the bed situation is legit comfortable, not just Instagram-ready. The soundproofing is surprisingly good too, which matters because there’s a bit of street activity, though nothing crazy. I was there during Oktoberfest season and honestly expected chaos, but the area stays pretty civilized. The breakfast setup is solid without being fancy – good coffee, actual variety, and it doesn’t feel like a cafeteria. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to get around from here – you’re connected to public transport without being right on top of a major station, so you avoid that constant rumble. Plus parking was straightforward, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central Munich, you’ll know is basically a miracle. This place just works, you know? It’s the kind of hotel where you’re not constantly thinking about the hotel itself, which is exactly what you want.

  The staff was exceptional, room service fantastic, in fact some of the items were so good we had them multiple times! The location was great, within biking distance to downtown and most places we wanted to visit.

  There are many small details in this hotel which I like a lot. For example, the floor of the bathroom in the room is slightly heated, which makes it warm and thus comfortable for standing in the bathroom with bare feet.
  
  What could be improved: The rubbish bin was a little bit too small for non-business travellers like us. As München is the last stay before we leave Germany, we have some more stuff to throw away than usual to keep our luggage lighter. However, the size for the rubbish bin is not ideal for this purpose.
  
  Also, the chair at the table is supposed to be a decent furniture, which is also why we paid a deposit of 50 Euro for the expensive ambiente available in the room. However, it seems that the chair has already been used for so many years that it does not look great anymore. It was a little bit disappointing as I value this hotel so much and have even become a fan of it.
