Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Motel One München-Messe, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical roadside motel — despite what the name might suggest. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe with dark wood accents and pops of color that feel distinctly German in their understated sophistication. It’s a three-star property, but honestly, the design aesthetic punches well above its weight class. The staff at check-in were refreshingly straightforward and efficient, which I’ve come to appreciate about Munich hospitality.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Trudering-Riem — it’s not exactly the tourist heart of Munich, but that’s actually what makes it work so well. You’re literally steps from the Messestadt-Riem U-Bahn station, which puts you about 20 minutes from Marienplatz and the old town. The trade fair grounds are right there if that’s why you’re in town, and there’s something refreshing about staying in a neighborhood where locals actually live and work. Plus, the parking situation here is infinitely better than anywhere near the city center.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — every inch serves a purpose without feeling cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I loved the rainfall shower (though the bathroom is definitely on the smaller side). What really impressed me was the attention to detail: good lighting for actually reading, plenty of outlets where you need them, and blackout curtains that actually block out light. The soundproofing is solid too, which matters when you’re near a transit hub. The modern furnishings and climate control ensure a restful stay.
Dining & Amenities
The lobby bar doubles as the restaurant, and while the menu isn’t extensive, what they do serve is well-executed. I had their schnitzel one evening — nothing fancy, but properly done and reasonably priced. Breakfast is the typical German spread with good coffee, fresh bread, and quality cold cuts. You know what I appreciated most? The 24-hour front desk and the fact that everything just works without fuss. There’s no spa or elaborate amenities, but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place to sleep.
Why Guests Love It
This place gets couples because it strikes that sweet spot between affordability and quality that’s hard to find in Munich. You’re getting modern comfort without paying city center prices, and the location actually gives you a more authentic feel for how the city really works. The U-Bahn connection means you can explore anywhere you want, but you come back to a quieter neighborhood at night. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day efficiently, and don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything essential — which, honestly, is exactly what a good three-star hotel should deliver. The efficient service and welcoming atmosphere make it an excellent choice for business travelers and leisure visitors alike.
To book a hotel in Munich during major Bavarian festivals, travelers need early planning as this Alpine capital draws visitors eager to experience its traditional culture and world-class museums.

Guest Reviews
Very comfortable bed
ventilation and heating in the room work well
very good breakfast with plenty of options, continuously being refilled
nice hotel bar with good gin selection
What could be improved: room size is really small
paper cups in the bathroom - why not a regular glass?
no other facilities in the hotel, beyond the bar
Location and amenities
Amazing staff with great welcoming at the reception. Very clean, well located for us, near you have restaurants, stores, metro station.
What could be improved: The breakfast is actually the same, everyday. Maybe changing it a bit would be a plus. Also, it would be nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep your drinks cold.
The decor was really nice, and the staff were excellent.

Very quiet room, clean and functional
What could be improved: -
Very nice design, very clean, good communication around
What could be improved: The breakfast could be better. E.g. some sausages, beacon, potato etc.
Great location for the München Messe for trade shows. Right by the u-Bahn line. The hotel is part of the shopping/food complex area, so no shortage of food options. I'm always looking for a decent nights sleep and a nice shower when I travel for work. Not really bothered about much else. Room was good - not massive but acceptable. Bathroom not huge but had a lovely hot shower. Bed was comfy with very good blackout curtains. Aircon unit very quiet. I had asked for a quiet room and was given room 2217. It's sort of at the back and has less people passing it. It was SUPER quiet and I had 2 good nights sleep. I did not eat at the hotel (there is a Five Guys next-door!) but the One Lounge looked very nice. Staff were excellent - I borrowed an iron and ironing board from reception to iron some shirts. Overall - very good. I would use again based on having such good sleep!
What could be improved: The only thing that I missed was tea/coffee/kettle facilities in the room. Not a big deal but something that's nice to have.
Very nice place to stay, modern comfortable room, very clean, 3 min walk from subway. Gentleman at reception was very nice and polite!
What could be improved: Everything was good
Very clean room and fast service
