Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Motel One München-Haidhausen, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to make a three-star property feel way more upscale than its rating suggests. The lobby has this sleek, modern design that’s become Motel One’s signature — think clean lines, bold colors, and that unmistakable contemporary German aesthetic. It’s not trying to be fancy, but it definitely doesn’t feel budget either. The staff at check-in were genuinely friendly, which honestly surprised me given how busy this place gets.
Location & Getting Around
The Haidhausen neighborhood is actually one of Munich’s best-kept secrets for travelers who want to feel like locals. You’re about a 15-minute walk to Marienplatz, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by authentic Bavarian beer gardens and local spots that tourists rarely find. The Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn station is literally around the corner — I mean, we’re talking a two-minute walk — which connects you to the entire city and the airport. There’s also parking available right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in Munich where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
The Room Experience
The room design follows Motel One’s signature style — compact but incredibly well thought out. Everything has its place, from the bedside charging stations to the rainfall shower that’s surprisingly spacious for this category of hotel. The bed was actually really comfortable, and the blackout curtains work perfectly if you’re dealing with jet lag. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail — good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets, and a workspace that’s actually usable if you need to get some work done.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast buffet here is where this place really shines for a three-star property. They’ve got all the German classics — fresh bread, cold cuts, cheeses — but also plenty of options for different dietary needs. I saw vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices clearly marked, which isn’t always a given at hotels in this price range. The coffee is decent (not amazing, but definitely drinkable), and the restaurant area has this nice, relaxed vibe where you can actually take your time in the morning.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it comes down to location and value — this place delivers on both fronts without any pretense. Couples seem to particularly love staying here, and I can see why. You’re in a real Munich neighborhood with easy access to everything, the rooms are comfortable and modern, and you’re not paying five-star prices for the privilege. The whole Haidhausen area has this authentic feel that’s hard to find when you’re staying in the touristy center. Plus, when recent guests are rating the location 8.8 out of 10, you know you’re onto something good. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Munich rather than just visiting it.

Guest Reviews
Good value for money: the room itself was beautiful, and the staff kept my bag and let me work in the (very nice) lobby while waiting for my plane. I could even order coffees!
Room was well sound-proofed - very quiet despite the central location; good, comfortable bed; spotlessly clean bathroom; pleasant staff at reception.
What could be improved: Small room. No tea/coffee-making facilities.
Hotel fabulous, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast plentiful and tasty, rooms very clean. Altogether an excellent hotel. Would stay in a Motel One again.
What could be improved: Loved everything. No negatives.
Great hotel, very good location next to the Train Station Ostbahnoff. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff at reception.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain about.
Stylish hotel, good location. The staff were great too.
What could be improved: Bedroom could use some fresh paint, but was otherwise comfortable.
Clean room, good beds, nice bathroom, perfect decorations
What could be improved: Expensive bar
- very clean
- friendly front desk
- quiet (despite our room was street facing, the double glazed window did a good job on sound proofing)
- decent sized room
Hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff was helpful and the bed was so comfortable. I hope to stay again soon.

Location, room,
What could be improved: It might just be the time of year, but the air con wasn’t working. Room was at a road junction, therefore too noisy to leave window open overnight.
Not a big deal, but it was quite warm the week we were there!
Really great hotel
What could be improved: Breakfast tables were insufficient.
