You know what caught me off guard about Marias Platzl? The moment I walked in, it felt like stepping into someone’s well-loved home rather than your typical hotel lobby. I mean, sure, it’s officially a 3-star place, but honestly – that 8.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve actually stayed there. The staff greets you like they genuinely care about your trip, not like they’re reading from a script.

The location is what really sold me, though I’ll admit the address situation is a bit quirky (you might need to ask for clearer directions when you book). But once you find it, you’re in this sweet spot where you can actually walk to the main attractions without feeling like you’re staying in tourist central. The rooms have that classic European charm – not huge by American standards, but everything’s thoughtfully arranged. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I loved the little touches like actual wooden furniture instead of that generic hotel stuff you see everywhere. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; you’re close enough to the action but far enough that you won’t hear every group of travelers stumbling back from dinner.

What really impressed me was the breakfast situation – they’ve got this spread that includes local specialties alongside the usual continental fare. The coffee’s actually good (and I’m picky about coffee), and the staff will chat with you about what to see that day if you’re up for it. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, so I’d suggest asking about that when you make your reservation. The whole place has this lived-in authenticity that’s getting harder to find – like they’ve been doing this for years and know exactly what travelers actually need versus what marketing departments think they want. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay if you can, just because it feels right.

  We enjoyed the location and style of the hotel. The parking garage was appreciated and totally needed, as no parking on the street was available. Highlight would be the staff and the restaurant. Yummy Bavarian specialties and flair!
  
  What could be improved: We didn’t like the sliding door on the toilet that is shared by the shower. It was difficult to maneuver and got water all over the place. Room was stuffy if we didn’t open the window, but the traffic was too loud at night to keep it open while we slept.
