Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Living Hotel Prinzessin Elisabeth? The name sounds way more intimidating than the actual place feels. I mean, you’re expecting some stuffy, overdone royal theme, but honestly it’s got this refreshingly modern vibe that somehow still nods to the princess thing without going overboard.

The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s definitely polished and well-run, though you’re not getting those crazy luxury touches that make you feel guilty about using the towels. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. When I asked about dinner spots, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he gave me specific recommendations based on what I was in the mood for, even mentioned which places get packed around 7pm (spoiler: most of them). The rooms have this clean, contemporary design that’s actually comfortable to live in for a few days. Nothing too flashy, but the beds are solid and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your suitcase.

The 7.9 rating makes sense when you factor in the whole experience. It’s one of those places where little things work smoothly – decent water pressure, reliable wifi, housekeeping that doesn’t wake you up at dawn. I noticed they’ve got that sweet spot figured out where the common areas feel lively during the day but aren’t echoing with noise at night. Actually, the location ended up being better than I expected – close enough to the action that you can walk to most things, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise. There’s this great coffee spot just around the corner that locals actually use (always a good sign), and I found myself grabbing my morning caffeine there instead of the hotel’s perfectly adequate but predictable breakfast coffee. One thing that caught me off guard was how helpful they were with practical stuff – they actually knew bus schedules and could tell me realistic walking times to different spots, not just “oh, everything’s close by” which usually means a 20-minute hike. The whole place has this lived-in quality that makes it feel less like a hotel and more like a well-organized friend’s apartment building, if that makes sense. It’s the kind of place where you settle in quickly and don’t spend your whole stay figuring out how things work.

Exploring Munich offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Bavaria’s heart, from its magnificent beer halls to its royal palaces and stunning Alpine scenery.

Reviews

  • Bryan from Canada – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

Excellent REWE grocery store right next door. We could make quick small meals in the kichenette in our room. Location very near the river makes for a lovely place to walk. The whole city is fantastic for walking.

What could be improved: Access to the U-Bahn was a bit of a walk – about 12 minutes to the Goetheplatz station.

  • Gregory from Netherlands – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

Good layout for small families. We rented four rooms for four nights. It worked well.

  • Maja from Serbia – 3 May 2025 (7/10)

Room is very good, location as well.

What could be improved: It could have be more clean, and the mattress was too soft. And the kitchen was dirty, we did not use it.

  • Aidan from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

It is a split level apartment and was comfortable and well equipped even if the decor was a little dated. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. There is an excellent supermarket next door. It takes about 25 minutes to walk to Marienplatz but there are good bus links with the city centre and train station and stops within 5 minutes of the hotel. There's a sauna but we forgot to bring swimming costumes. The kitchen area was quite compact but we got free water and beer. SC

  • Greg from Australia – 16 December 2024 (9/10)

Location was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The welcome basket was an unexpected surprise.

What could be improved: The fact that for our two week stay the sheets and towels were only changed once. The daily noise from the back of the Rewe supermarket was very annoying.
