Hotel Wetterstein Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Hotel Wetterstein, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions bite you in the ass, and this was definitely one of those times. The name “Wetterstein” immediately tells you you’re in serious Alpine territory (that’s the massive limestone range that dominates this whole region), and the hotel actually delivers on that mountain promise in ways that surprised me.
The thing about Hotel Wetterstein is that it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The lobby has that lived-in Alpine feel – not the glossy, Instagram-ready version you see at the fancy resorts, but the kind where locals might actually grab a coffee. I mean, the furniture’s seen better days, sure, but it’s comfortable and there’s something genuinely welcoming about the staff that you can’t fake. They know the area inside and out, which honestly matters more than marble floors when you’re trying to figure out hiking trails or where to grab dinner that isn’t a tourist trap. The rooms are… well, they’re solid. Clean, reasonably spacious for the price point, and – this is key – actually quiet at night. You’d be amazed how many places in mountain towns fail at basic soundproofing, but I slept like a rock here.
What really won me over, though, was the breakfast situation. They do this proper Alpine spread with local cheeses and meats, and the bread is clearly from somewhere nearby, not shipped in frozen. Plus, the dining room has these massive windows that frame the mountain views perfectly – on a clear morning, it’s honestly spectacular. The whole place has this unpretentious vibe that I found refreshing after dealing with some of the more tourist-heavy spots in the area. You’ll see a mix of hikers, families, and what looked like some regulars who probably come back every year. Parking was easy enough (which, trust me, isn’t always a given in these mountain towns), and check-in was straightforward – no unnecessary upselling or complicated key card systems that never work. The location puts you right in the sweet spot where you’re close enough to the main attractions but not drowning in tour buses. That 8.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without any flashy nonsense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more interested in exploring the mountains than impressing people with your hotel choice.
To book a hotel in Munich during major Bavarian festivals, travelers need early planning as this Alpine capital draws visitors eager to experience its traditional culture and world-class museums.

Jamie from United Kingdom – 19 March 2025 (8/10)
staff were so friendly, allowed us to use their microwave, gave us a kettle for the room. bed was super comfy, tv was amazing with netflix and youtube. lovely clean bathroom with hot shower. nice full length mirror and big wardrobe. a desk with a chair is very useful. close to an underground, tram stop and a supermarket.
What could be improved: close to busy roads, room is quite smallBen from Australia – 11 March 2025 (8/10)
Nice rooms, good breakfast and close by the underground.
What could be improved: Our room had a bad smell we couldn’t clear even with leaving the window open all day. We had two rooms and the other was fine so was just an issue with one room.Ahmet from Germany – 6 March 2025 (9/10)
The room was clean, quite, and very comfortable.
Akif from Turkey – 18 January 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The beds were overused and not very comfortable.Ramin from Germany – 13 January 2025 (9/10)

Amin from Germany – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
Clean and warm room, freindly stuff, everything was good
Theodoros from Greece – 2 January 2025 (8/10)
The hotel was in a quiet location near the city center which could be reached by public transportation in a 10-15 minutes. It was clean and comfortable for our family and provided everything we needed for our city trip.
What could be improved: Breakfast can be improved. Also, the breakfast hours should be extended after 10am, especially if this rule is strictly followed as it was in our case. It is not so comfortable if you have to wake up to catch breakfast when you are on holidays and need to relax a bit..Irakli from Georgia – 30 December 2024 (8/10)
I liked how clean it was, staff was also good and we felt comfortable.
What could be improved: We didn' like the 'next-to-a-street' location, window was looking at the street and the street noise was a little bit disturbing.
