Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hotel Senator München – it’s one of those solid, no-nonsense places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. The moment you walk into the lobby, you get this distinctly German sense of efficiency mixed with genuine warmth. Nothing fancy, but everything’s clean, well-maintained, and the staff actually seems to care about helping you figure out Munich rather than just checking you in and disappearing.
What I really appreciate about this place is how it sits in the city. You’re not stuck out in some tourist bubble – you’re actually in Munich, you know? The breakfast room has these big windows where you can watch locals heading to work in the morning, and there’s this great little bakery just around the corner that the front desk guy told me about (honestly, their pretzels are better than anything you’ll find near Marienplatz). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and those heavy German curtains that actually block out light when you need to sleep off jet lag. I mean, the decor isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s clean and functional, and the heating works properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.
The thing that surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night. Munich can be pretty lively, but somehow this place manages to feel peaceful without being isolated from everything. You can still hear the occasional tram, but it’s more of a comforting city sound than anything disruptive. Parking was easier than I expected too – they’ve got a deal with a garage nearby, and the staff will actually walk you over to show you where it is instead of just handing you a map. It’s those little touches that make the difference, especially when you’re trying to navigate a new city. The 7.7 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying with a reliable friend than checking into a hotel, this is your spot.
Exploring Munich offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Bavaria’s heart, from its magnificent beer halls to its royal palaces and stunning Alpine scenery.

We were welcomed with a warm smile by the most friendly, lovely gentleman (Nigerian, I think?) at reception. Truly wonderful guy. I had asked to be put in a room with a bath instead of just a shower, which he more than fulfilled and he also made sure to double check with us whether we liked the room. It was a lovely room!! Also, all the other staff at breakfast were a joy and very attentive, remembering what types of hot drinks we liked to have.
The hotel is also very conventiently located – a 10 minute walk from the station and close to the underground and busses. The area felt safe and we really enjoyed our stay!Nicola from United Kingdom – 6 February 2025 (8/10)
Check in was easy, the room itself was more than we hoped for as we had a terrace overlooking a park area. The beds were comfy and a bath was great after a long day travelling. Breakfast was continental with some warm options and filled us until lunch. All staff were helpful and accommodating. Location is a 5-10 min walk from the hauptbahnhof and a 5 min walk from the metro station hackerbrucke so easy to access all attractions.
