Hotel Description
Honestly, Hotel Rotkreuzplatz surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how some three-star places try way too hard to punch above their weight? This isn’t one of those. It’s just genuinely solid, no-nonsense hospitality in a spot that actually makes sense if you want to experience Munich beyond the tourist bubble.
The thing about Rotkreuzplatz is that you’re sitting in this lovely residential neighborhood that feels properly Bavarian without being all touristy about it. I mean, you’ve got the U-Bahn right there (the Rotkreuzplatz station is literally a two-minute walk), so getting to Marienplatz or the main train station is ridiculously easy. But here’s what I really loved – step outside and you’re surrounded by these tree-lined streets with actual Munich families going about their daily lives. There’s this fantastic bakery just around the corner that I stumbled across my second morning, and honestly, their pretzels put the ones near the tourist spots to shame. The hotel itself has that classic European efficiency thing going on – rooms are clean and comfortable without trying to be fancy, which I actually appreciated. My room faced the quieter side street, so no traffic noise, just the occasional tram rumbling by (sort of soothing, actually). The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were sorted, not just going through the motions.
What really won me over was how the place feels like a proper base camp rather than just somewhere to crash. The breakfast spread was simple but fresh – good coffee, local cheeses, and bread that didn’t taste like it came from a factory. I overheard the front desk guy giving another guest detailed directions to some local beer garden I’d never heard of, complete with warnings about which trams to avoid during rush hour. That’s the kind of local knowledge you just don’t get at the big chain places. The 8.2 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises and then some. You’ll find yourself in a neighborhood where you can grab groceries at the local market, watch kids play football in the park, and still be at the Frauenkirche in fifteen minutes flat. For the price point and the genuine Munich experience, I’d absolutely stay here again.
Munich hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Bavaria’s capital, known for its impressive architecture and world-famous beer culture.

It was a nice, clean hotel in a perfect location directly on Rotkreuzplatz, very easy to find when arriving by subway. I could view the Christmas Market directly from my window, which was nice. There are plenty of places to shop and also many restaurants nearby.

Location. Cleanliness. Staff.
What could be improved: No amenities. Not even a cattle or cup. No cupboard, just a rack.Laura from Spain – 18 August 2024 (8/10)
The staff were really friendly and polite and accommodating of any special requests. I will recommend it to everyone and will be happy to stay there again if I return to lovely Munich.
What could be improved: The room didn’t have air conditioning and it was particularly hot in Munich.Kirti from Germany – 5 August 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room.
What could be improved: Ventilation could be better and it would be helpful to have basics like a tea kettle and an iron in the room. The room can get a bit warm in summer months and a standing fan would be a big plus.Pedrofc from Sweden – 16 May 2024 (9/10)
Staff was very nice.
