Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Mirabell by Maier Privathotels from the Goethestraße entrance, you immediately get the sense this is a family-run place that actually cares about details. It’s tucked into Munich’s Ludwigsvorstadt district — honestly, one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically local without being touristy. The building itself has that classic Bavarian charm, but inside it’s been updated in all the right ways. You know what I mean — modern comfort without losing that European character that makes you feel like you’re actually somewhere special.
Perfect Munich Base
The location is honestly fantastic, and I get why couples rate it so highly. You’re literally in the heart of everything — I could walk to Marienplatz in about ten minutes, and the main train station is even closer. What’s really nice though is how you can duck down these quieter side streets and suddenly you’re away from the crowds. There’s this great little bakery just around the corner that locals actually use, and the Theresienwiese (where Oktoberfest happens) is basically a short stroll away. The three-star rating might seem modest, but honestly, the location alone makes this place punch above its weight.
The Room Experience
My room was clean and comfortable — nothing flashy, but everything worked perfectly. The beds are actually good quality, which you can’t always count on at this price point. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details — proper blackout curtains, decent water pressure, and outlets where you actually need them. The decor is sort of modern Bavarian, if that makes sense — warm woods and clean lines without feeling sterile. It’s the kind of place where you can spread out your stuff and actually relax after a day of sightseeing.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is surprisingly comprehensive for a smaller hotel. They’ve got the full continental spread, but what impressed me was how they handle dietary restrictions — proper vegan and gluten-free options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup is efficient without feeling rushed, and the coffee is actually decent (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given). I mean, you’re not going to confuse this with some fancy hotel spread, but it definitely sets you up well for a day of exploring Munich.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshing about a hotel that knows exactly what it is and does it well. The Maier family clearly understands that travelers want a clean, comfortable base with genuine hospitality — and that’s exactly what you get here. The private parking is a real bonus if you’re driving (trust me, finding parking in central Munich can be a nightmare), and the staff actually seems to enjoy helping guests figure out the city. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which makes it feel authentic in a way that a lot of chain hotels just can’t match.

Guest Reviews
Lovely small hotel, close to train station,7mins walk and breakfast was above average quality. We would return here next time we are in Munich
Friendly receptionist to tell us good restaurants and safe streets. Coffee and water in the lobby. Closeness to central train station.
What could be improved: Very busy streets in the afternoon. I had a hard time dropping off the luggage.
Really friendly , helpful people working at reception and excellent quality breakfast .
Perfect location for the train station . Very quiet room at the back . Good value for money .
The staff was wonderful. They stored our bags , we arrived early, until our room was ready. Contacting us while we were out to inform us the room ready. Very satisfied with the suite, spacious and had all we needed. Able to log into YouTube and Netflix on TV. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in all our travels. Definitely will stay again next time in Munich.
The hotel was close to the downtown and to the location to meet for our Dachau tour. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
Just convenient
What could be improved: The kitchen staff for morning breakfast, lady visibly wasn’t happy with English speaking people, was quite cold and made us uncomfortable. With Germans she was kind and nice
Great location, nice rooms, very helpful staff all around
What could be improved: Nothing
A nice hotel. Friendly service. Attended reception!.
Comfortable, clean and spacious rooms.
A very populated high immigrant area, but good.
Very easy to get to from the main train station – 7 minutes walk. And easy to get to any local attractions by tram / bus train etc.
Plenty of food and conveniences near.
Older room fit out but clean and functional, VERY comfortable beds, all amenities and usable bathrooms. No complaints at all.
Recommended.
