You know what caught me off guard about HOMELY STAY Studio 5? The name actually fits – it really does feel like crashing at a stylish friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. I mean, the self-check-in thing had me a little nervous at first (I’m one of those people who likes knowing there’s a human around if something goes wrong), but honestly, it was smoother than most traditional hotel experiences I’ve had in Munich.

The studio itself has this trendy, minimalist vibe that somehow manages to feel cozy instead of cold – probably because whoever designed it actually thought about how real people live. There’s enough space to spread out your stuff without tripping over your suitcase every five minutes, and the little kitchen setup is surprisingly functional. I actually ended up cooking breakfast a couple times because, let’s be real, Munich breakfast prices can be brutal, especially around the touristy areas. The whole place feels clean and well-maintained, which isn’t always a given with 3-star properties, and you can tell they’ve put thought into the details – good lighting, decent Wi-Fi that actually works, blackout curtains that don’t have mysterious stains.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even on weekends. Munich can get pretty lively, and I’ve stayed in places where you’re basically listening to every tram and late-night conversation whether you want to or not. Here, you’ll sleep well, which is honestly half the battle when you’re trying to make the most of your time in the city. The location works really well too – you’re not right in the thick of Marienplatz chaos, but you’re not stuck way out in some residential area wondering how to get anywhere either. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing actual Munich life instead of just the tourist version. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Sure, you’re not getting room service or a concierge, but if you’re the type who values independence and a good home base over hotel fuss, this place hits the mark. Plus, the whole self-check-in thing actually becomes kind of liberating once you get used to it – no awkward lobby small talk or waiting around for someone to find your reservation.

  Clean place, the bed sheets were plenty and tidy, the shower was well equiped and there are free drinks.

  Everything was top-notch. Check-in process is the best one I have ever experienced. They literally show you the picture of the building and the door as the first step and lead you through the whole process step-by-step.
  Room were clean, great modern looking with everything you need for your stay. Location was great, 5mins from metro station which takes around 15-20mins to reach city center.

  Nice little table in the room and also place where you can hang your clothes

  What could be improved: Minus sides:
  Really loud on the street side, but bringing earplugs helped me very much!
  Repairs in the same building and workers making really loud sounds and putting their stuff against our windows/door which are facing street side.
  People banging doors in the middle of the night 🙁
  And mattress too soft for our taste, i left with a back pain 🙁

  Property was very nice with quick access to ubahn stations. It felt more like a nice Airbnb than a traditional hotel / hostel. Excellent cafe and small bar next door.
  
  What could be improved: The property is difficult to get in and out of quickly. Owners are very friendly and helpful, but are not considerate regarding early check in and baggage storage options.

  lovely room, super-clean, super-comfortable + tram and underground station very close
  
  What could be improved: my room was at ground floor, right on the main street, closed by a robust glass door, with two fanlights under the ceiling. NO problem at all with security or privacy, only: 1) it was a little noisy: you could hear people chatting (which in fact, strangely, was quite pleasant 🙂 ) and morning traffic – but at night it was silent, and i slept very well; 2) if you keep the fanlights open during the day you may find some smog in the room: i kept them closed and opened them only at night, so i didn't have this problem; 3) i don't like air conditioning, so i didn't use it, and luckily the weather (end of july 2023) was quite cool, but in case of hot weather the room is likely to become an oven without using air conditioning

  Convenient to public transportation, bed was comfortable, had essential coffee/tea with cups and spoons, bathroom was clean and equipped with basic necessities, and easy to communicate with host.
  
  What could be improved: Car parking, closet space, and no microwave. Also could not find where to turn on the heat since the room has a door leading to the outside, you could feel the draft of cold air coming in.
