Overview
You know what surprised me about the Hampton By Hilton Munich City Center East? It’s actually got this really solid, unpretentious vibe that you don’t always get with chain hotels. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star place, but honestly it punches above its weight in ways that matter. The lobby hits you with that clean, modern Hampton look – nothing fancy, but everything feels fresh and well-maintained. Check-in was smooth (the staff actually seemed happy to be there, which is rarer than it should be), and I appreciated that they didn’t try to upsell me on everything under the sun.
The location is what really makes this place work, though. Being on the east side of the city center means you’re close enough to walk to the main attractions – I could easily stroll to Marienplatz in about 15 minutes – but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your window. The neighborhood has this authentic Munich feel, with actual locals grabbing coffee at the café down the street and proper bakeries that smell incredible in the morning. Public transport connections are solid too; the U-Bahn station is just a few minutes away, so getting to Oktoberfest grounds or out to Nymphenburg Palace is pretty straightforward. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in this area (like most of Munich, honestly), but the hotel has its own garage, which saved me from circling the block endlessly.
What really sealed the deal for me was the attention to small details that make a difference when you’re actually living there for a few days. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Munich, after all, where space is premium – but they’re smartly designed with good lighting for working and reading. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-brochure comfortable, and the sound insulation is better than expected for a busy city location. I was worried about street noise, but honestly slept well every night. The breakfast spread is typical Hampton style – nothing revolutionary, but solid options and good coffee to fuel your day of sightseeing. One small thing that impressed me: the housekeeping staff actually paid attention to how I arranged my stuff and didn’t just randomly move everything around, which shows they care about the guest experience beyond just changing sheets. With an 8.6 rating from actual guests, it’s clear I’m not the only one who found this place delivers on the basics while adding those little touches that make you want to recommend it to friends visiting Munich.

Guest Reviews
A lovely and clean hotel with an excellent breakfast. It’s my second time here, and I’d gladly return again!
Easy use of S-Bahm to city center, etc.
What could be improved: N/A.
Excelente breakfast, modern room, helpful staff.
What could be improved: car parking have some tight spaces for larga cars.
Very friendly staff, good food and great room service.
What could be improved: Parking is not included and is available for additional payment.
I asked for a late check-out and it was possible to check out at 2pm without any extra costs.
Everything was good.
Nice, clean hotel. Fresh and tasty food for breakfast. Easy going and responsive staff.
What could be improved: I would enjoy a little bit less of Al Jazzera which was unfortunately accompanying every breakfast in this hotel. Two big screens constantly displaying some propaganda news are not the best fit for the start of the day and certainly not helping to digest food.
Clean room, Great breakfast and very good location
What could be improved: The room didn't have a mini bar and missing some toiletries.
About 20 minutes from central Munich, but well connected through train and tram. The hotel is quite new. My room was clean, quiet & spacious enough, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast has sufficient choice and quality for the price class, I think. Staff at the reception was extremely helpful when I checked in early. Altogether, it is a reasonable price performance ratio for Munich.
really beautiful and clean. loved the breakfast
