Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Elaya Hotel Munich City? It’s got this quietly confident vibe that a lot of 4-star places try too hard to achieve. I mean, you walk in and it doesn’t scream “look at me” with marble everywhere, but there’s something about the lighting and the way they’ve arranged the lobby that just feels… right. Actually comfortable, if that makes sense.
The thing about Munich is that location really is everything – and honestly, the Elaya nails this without being smack in the middle of tourist chaos. You’re close enough to walk to the real stuff (I’m talking about those little side streets where locals actually eat, not just the obvious beer halls), but you won’t have groups of sightseers chatting outside your window at 2 AM. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “grown-up modern” – clean lines, decent space to spread out your stuff, and thank god, proper blackout curtains. I’ve stayed in too many places where they give you these flimsy things that let in every streetlight.
What really won me over was the attention to those small details that only matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The shower pressure is legitimately good (not just “good for Europe”), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every time someone else logs on, and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into quicksand. I noticed the housekeeping staff actually pays attention too – they didn’t just throw fresh towels on the floor and call it a day. The breakfast situation is solid without being overwhelming; they’ve got the German basics covered but also throw in some options for people who don’t want bread and cold cuts first thing in the morning.
Look, an 8.3 rating sounds about right for this place. It’s not going to blow your mind or become the story you tell for years, but it gets out of your way and lets you enjoy Munich properly. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood when you ask for recommendations – they pointed me toward this Turkish place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, the elevators don’t make weird grinding noises, and I slept well every night. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a hotel, especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway.

It was very nice, modern and comfortable. Access to the Munich underground transportation system was less than a block away and also very close to City Center. The included breakfast had a surprisingly wide variety of options including sashimi salmon. I also found the WiFi to be very good. But it was the staff that made our stay there a most pleasant experience. Every one of them immediately stopped what they were doing when I needed something and tended to my request. Daniela spent more than just a few minutes explaining to me the public transportation system in Munich when her work day was apparently over and she was getting ready to leave for home. Sasha (who speaks 5 languages!) was particularly sweet and helpful as I had quite a few after hours requests.
Leah from France – 5 September 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: We were there for a concert and the price was really inflatedIlkin from Austria – 23 August 2024 (8/10)
Comfortable, no major problem. Reception guys are nice and helpful. Clean rooms. Parking garage had plenty of spaces, tho it costs 15 EUR, just so you are aware of.
What could be improved: It can be a bit noisy from the outside early in the morning.Monica from Switzerland – 22 August 2024 (9/10)
We booked this hotel because it is well connected with the train station and the rest of the city. It is in a residential neighborhood but a walk distance to the old town. The personal was very friendly, nice room size and very good breakfast.
What could be improved: It was a bit pricy but It is August in Europe, and Munich was packed with a lot of Concerts.
You can hear the other rooms door while closing because of the automatic system.
