Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott Munich Central, you immediately get that “home away from home” feeling that extended-stay hotels do so well. The lobby has this modern, welcoming vibe — not stuffy like some business hotels, but polished enough that you know you’re in good hands. What struck me right away was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to help, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re dealing with jet lag or just trying to figure out where the nearest U-Bahn station is.
Location & Getting Around
The Schwanthalerhöhe area might not sound familiar, but trust me — this spot is actually brilliant for exploring Munich. You’re close enough to the Hauptbahnhof that getting anywhere is a breeze, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos and noise. I mean, couples consistently rate this location highly for good reason. The neighborhood has that authentic Munich feel with local cafes and shops, plus you can walk to Theresienwiese (yes, where Oktoberfest happens) in about ten minutes if that’s your thing.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s where this four-star property really shines — these aren’t just hotel rooms, they’re proper apartment-style suites with full kitchens. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped; I’m talking full-size appliances, not those tiny hotel mini-fridges that barely fit a water bottle. The room layouts feel spacious and thoughtfully designed, and honestly, those beds live up to the hype — guests rave about the comfort level, and after spending several nights there, I totally get why. Everything feels clean and contemporary without being cold or impersonal.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast spread here covers all the bases — continental options, American classics, vegetarian choices, the whole buffet experience. What I appreciated was the quality; it’s not just about having lots of options, but actually having good options. The coffee is decent (important for morning people like me), and they seem to understand that travelers have different schedules and preferences. Having that full kitchen in your suite means you can also grab groceries and prepare your own meals, which is perfect for longer stays or when you want to save some euros.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s the combination of hotel services with apartment-style independence. The parking situation is sorted if you’re driving, which eliminates one major Munich headache. The location works for both business travelers and tourists — you can easily reach the city center, but you’re staying somewhere that feels more residential and relaxed. Plus, the staff strikes that perfect balance of being helpful without hovering. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and actually feel comfortable, whether you’re in Munich for work, sightseeing, or a bit of both.

What could be improved: No daily housekeeping
The hotel really exceeded my expectations. It is ideal for a family stay, there are all amenities in the room you might need when staying with a child. The comfort was all over the place. The room was so spacious. We loved our stay. If we visit Munich again with kids, I will not search for any other hotel. Thank you!
