Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Cocoon Hauptbahnhof, you immediately get this sense that someone really thought about design here. It’s not trying too hard to be flashy, but there’s this clean, modern aesthetic that feels refreshing after navigating Munich‘s busy streets. The lobby has this cocoon-like warmth to it — which I guess explains the name — and honestly, it’s exactly what you want after a long travel day. The attention to detail in every corner creates an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for your entire stay.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about staying near Hauptbahnhof — most people think it’s just about train access, but this spot on Mittererstraße is actually pretty smart. You’re in Ludwigsvorstadt, which means you can walk to the old town in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also right where all the transit lines converge. Couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.8), and the reasons are clear. You can grab dinner in the city center and still make it back easily, even after a few beers at a beer garden. The neighborhood offers the perfect balance of accessibility and authentic local character.
The Room Experience
The room design follows that same cocoon concept — everything feels intentionally cozy without being cramped. What I appreciated was how they managed to make a four-star space feel modern without going overboard on the minimalism. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in European hotels), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with good water pressure — you know, the little things that matter when you’re staying multiple nights. Each element has been carefully considered to enhance your comfort.
Breakfast and Practical Amenities
The breakfast buffet is solid — not groundbreaking, but they do it well. Fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying a few days. What’s really nice is that they have private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a relief if you’re driving in Munich. Parking in the city center can be a nightmare, so having that sorted removes one major headache from your trip. The restaurant options nearby also make dining convenient without needing to venture far.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in Munich, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that makes your stay smooth and enjoyable. The location score of 8.9 isn’t just a number — it reflects how well-connected you are to everything that matters. Whether you’re here for Oktoberfest, Christmas markets, or just exploring Bavaria, you’re positioned perfectly without paying old-town prices. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day properly, and don’t waste time figuring out logistics. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a hotel.

Guest Reviews
Efficient space. Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Cute ski chalet decor in the lobby. Small bar in the lobby to get a glass of wine in the evening. One English language tv station. 2 blocks from the train station but very quiet location.
What could be improved: Nothing really, although a nightlight in the bathroom would have been helpful.
Amazing theming
What could be improved: We arrived late so no staff on site to help when there was issues. It made it quite stressful trying to get the key sorted when all we wanted to do was sleep
Funky, casual, comfortable. Great personable staff, easy parking.. great location.
What could be improved: The cow theme was on overload. All the lights went off with one switch which made having selected lights not possible..
Conveniently a few blocks from the located to the train station, Cocoon was easy to navigate to. They are a super eco friendly hotel, the key cards were wood very cool. It is ski / chalet themed which we loved as we are big skiiers. The room was small but perfect for one night we needed just to shower and rest our head and jet out to the train early in the morning to head to the airport you couldn't have a better location for that.
What could be improved: My only complaint was the lack of and location of the power outlet was either in the bed above my head or in the bathroom.
Cozy rooms close to main central train station
What could be improved: Staff could have been a bit more attentive, rooms are very small
Short walk to the old town
Close to public transportation.
Nice patio.
Excellent location only a short walk from the old town and all the top tourist sites and attractions. Excellent breakfast and very attentive staff on site parking was a definite plus! Three free electric vehicle charging spots (Lv 2).
What could be improved: It’s a minor complaint, but the underground parking garage was very small for a midsize SUV, with a garage full of EVs (and people who parked there regardless!) made it difficult to always find a spot to charge.
Good location, walk to city centre 20 mins. Great breakfast.
Staff very helpful 😀
Everyone were so hospitable, very nice, close to the center and grate agenda
What could be improved: Rooms a bit small, bed very very soft
free water in lobby
good theming overall
What could be improved: no fridge in room
