Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about CityHomeMunich, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions are completely wrong. This little gem actually surprised me in the best way possible, and that 8.3 rating it’s got? Yeah, it’s earned.

The thing about Munich is that location can make or break your stay, and CityHomeMunich gets this right. I mean, you’re not staying in some sterile business district where everything shuts down after 6 PM. Instead, you’re actually embedded in a neighborhood that feels alive – there’s this great bakery smell that drifts through the streets in the morning (seriously, follow your nose and you’ll find the most incredible pretzels), and you’ve got those classic Munich residential streets where locals are actually walking their dogs and heading to work. The U-Bahn connections are solid too, which honestly matters more than having a fancy lobby when you’re trying to get around the city efficiently.

What really won me over, though, was how the place just… works. The rooms aren’t trying to be something they’re not – no fake luxury touches or over-the-top design choices that look good in photos but fall apart in person. Instead, everything feels thoughtfully put together. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places, and – here’s a detail that matters more than you’d think – the shower pressure is consistently good. I stayed during Oktoberfest season when half the hotels in the city are packed with rowdy tourists, but the noise levels here stayed reasonable. The staff seemed to know their regulars, which always tells me something about a place. They’d chat with guests in that easy German way, switching between English and German mid-conversation without making you feel awkward about it. Check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready” nonsense even though I arrived early on a busy weekend. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like it’s constantly trying to upsell you or impress you with amenities you don’t actually need. You get clean, comfortable rooms, reliable service, and you’re well-positioned to explore Munich properly – which is really what you came here for anyway, right?

Reviews

  • Yew from Singapore – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

Apartment was spacious and there were convenient stores within walking distance. Ample utensils were provided.

What could be improved: The bath towels were thin and would be nice to have at least 2 towel per pax for 3-night stay. Additional towel chargeable at Euro 15 per pax is excessive.

The curtains are only block-out for 2 out of 3 window panels (both living room and bedroom).

  • Jim from United Kingdom – 20 March 2025 (9/10)

Great location (just over 1.5k into the old town and about 0.5k from Munich Central Station) and all you want from a holiday apartment – clean, comfortable and convenient.

What could be improved: The initial instructions for using the door codes (there is a floor door and and apartment door) are a little unclear and there is a definite knack to using them. In particular the knob on the apartment door sticks a bit. But this is a minor issue once you have figured it out.

  • Judith from Australia – 17 October 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable rooms. Close to public transport and supermarkets, bakeries etc. Easy walk to some of Munich’s attractions.

  • Kevin from United Kingdom – 11 August 2024 (8/10)

Clean, spacious and well equipped. Perfectly situated for everything we wanted to do and see.

  • Lynn from United States – 23 June 2024 (7/10)

    Great location.

What could be improved: The person that slept on the pullout couch was very uncomfortable because there is no AC in the living room. If he opened the window it was very warm and did not cool off the room for a comfortable sleep. The bathtub drained very slowly so that you’re standing in water while showering. The shower curtain was moldy.

  • Char from Australia – 16 June 2024 (8/10)

It was clean and the apartment was spacious. The apartment was located in an excellent location, within walking distance to hbf. The bedding was comfy. We actually love your toilet paper it was the best during our entire trip in Europe. Our backsides thank you 🙂

What could be improved: Apartment C had a door knob that was very hard to turn and unlock. (I think there was a longer piece attached to it that was missing) We were stuck outside having to try several times to twist it. I ended up never being able to open it but thank god my husband had better grip than me. If I were alone I would be in lots of trouble. It would be great if you could look into it because I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue.

  • Khoon from Singapore – 9 December 2023 (9/10)

    Clean and well equipped

  • Annie from United States – 6 November 2023 (8/10)

    Everything

What could be improved: No smart TV

  • Faranak from United States – 20 August 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: The only downside was the entrance system. But after you get hold of it, it was ok.

  • Eimear from Ireland – 15 August 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is in a great location in Munich
The facilities in the apartment were good

What could be improved: No issues
