Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked into Bayer’s City Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. The lobby has this old-school European charm that actually works, with worn leather chairs that look like they’ve hosted thousands of conversations and dark wood that’s probably seen better decades but somehow adds character rather than looking tired. The staff behind the desk genuinely seemed happy to see me, which – let’s face it – doesn’t happen everywhere these days.
The thing about this place is that it gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to be something it’s not. My room was clean (I mean really clean, not just surface-level tidy), quiet enough that I actually slept through the night, and the shower had proper water pressure – you’d be amazed how many places mess that up. The windows opened wide, which I loved because there’s nothing worse than being stuck with recycled air conditioning all week. Sure, the furniture isn’t going to win any design awards, but everything worked, the WiFi was solid, and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I expected. I actually found myself looking forward to coming back each evening, which tells you something.
What really won me over was the breakfast situation – not fancy, but fresh bread that was clearly baked that morning, local cheese that tasted like actual cheese (not the processed stuff), and coffee that didn’t make me wince. The dining room fills up with a mix of business travelers and tourists, and there’s this nice buzz of conversation in multiple languages. The location works too, though you’ll want to ask at the front desk about the best walking routes since some streets are better than others depending on what time you’re heading out. I ended up discovering a great little market just a few blocks away because the guy at reception mentioned it offhandedly – that kind of local insight makes a difference. With an 8.3 rating, it’s clear I’m not the only one who appreciates a place that focuses on doing the basics well rather than trying to dazzle you with unnecessary bells and whistles.

What could be improved: electric kettle was out of order.

Staff were excellent, lovely room, great double glazing, really lovely heating/ cooling
Димитър from Bulgaria – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and functional. The price is quite good for Munich. Although both my rooms faced a noisy street, the soundproofing was adequate.
What could be improved: I had to prolong my stay, but it wasn't possible to remain in the same room, so I had to switch. I still had to wait a couple of hours for the new room to be ready. I might have as well changed hotels; it could have even been more practical—my advice: check your options in a similar situation when the hotel is fully booked.Charkphan from Thailand – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Location wasn’t great. Felt a little unsafe
