You know what struck me first about Arthotel Munich? The name isn’t just marketing fluff – there’s actually art everywhere, and I mean *everywhere*. Walking through the lobby felt like stumbling into someone’s eclectic gallery, with local pieces mixed in with some surprisingly bold contemporary stuff. It’s one of those 3-star places that punches way above its weight class, honestly. The building itself has this understated charm that you don’t always find in Munich’s more touristy areas.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually care about the details. Check-in was smooth – no weird upselling or pushy breakfast packages – and the front desk guy gave me genuinely useful tips about getting around the city. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy; think clean lines, decent beds, and those little touches that show someone’s paying attention. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a European hotel, which, let’s be real, matters when you’re trying to get ready in the morning. I will say the walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. Nothing terrible, just typical city hotel acoustics.

Here’s the thing though – Munich can be ridiculously expensive, especially during Oktoberfest or any major trade shows, and places like this offer actual value without making you feel like you’re roughing it. The neighborhood feels authentically Munich rather than tourist-central, which I loved. You’ll find proper bakeries within walking distance, not just overpriced hotel pastries, and the public transport connections are solid if you want to explore beyond the immediate area. That 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place where everything works like it should, the staff knows what they’re doing, and you wake up feeling like you made a smart choice. Not Instagram-perfect, but genuinely comfortable and well-run. If you’re the type who’d rather spend money on great dinners and museum tickets instead of thread counts and marble bathrooms, this is your spot.

  Easy access to train station. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. Staff were best part of this hotel.
  
  What could be improved: We had booked a 3 bed room. The third bed was a single sofa chair which was segmented in 3 pieces with steel rods which could be felt along your back and the whole thing was as hard as a brick. We asked for a mattress topper or extra quilt but nothing was available. It actually hurt my back and had to take medication to rectify it. The pillows are very flimsy and non existent. Hotel decor is a bit average. It is worse in real life than online photos. Our room was quiet and inward facing however construction going on across the road at front so if you like to sleep with a window open, request a quiet room. Appreciate this is Munich but very average value for money.

  Close to the city center (about 15 min walk). Own parking although car should not be to big.

  Very good facilities, near the train station. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very helpful staff. Lovely contemporary “art “ decor in the public areas.
  
  What could be improved: Lots of construction in the area, therefore noisy in the morning and throughout the day.
