Apartment an der Theresienwiese

Overview

Okay, so the Apartment an der Theresienwiese isn’t going to blow you away with luxury, but honestly? It’s got something way better going for it – location, location, location. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Theresienwiese, which if you don’t know, is where Oktoberfest happens every year. Even when there’s no festival, it’s this massive green space where locals walk their dogs and kids play football, and you get this amazing sense of Munich life that most tourists completely miss.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – think clean, functional, maybe a little dated but in that charming European way where everything just works. You know what I really appreciated? The windows actually open properly (not those tiny hotel slits), so you can get proper fresh air flowing through. The neighborhood gets surprisingly quiet at night, which caught me off guard given how central you are. During the day though, you’ve got the U-Bahn right there – Theresienwiese station is maybe a three-minute walk – so getting anywhere in Munich is ridiculously easy. I was in Marienplatz in ten minutes, no joke.

What really sold me on this place was the morning routine I fell into. There’s this little bakery around the corner (I think it’s on Thalkirchner Straße, but don’t quote me) where you can grab proper German bread and coffee that’ll ruin Starbucks for you forever. Then you can just wander onto the Theresienwiese with your breakfast and watch the city wake up. The locals do this thing where they use the space for everything – morning jogs, afternoon picnics, evening beer gardens when the weather’s nice. It’s like having Munich’s backyard as your front yard, if that makes sense. Sure, during Oktoberfest season this whole area turns into absolute chaos, but the rest of the year? You’re in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist madness around the old town. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not fancy, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Munich base camp.

The apartment was comfortable. It's located in a good area, there're many restaurants and groceries surrounding.
Inside the apartment, there're two bedrooms and three beds. The kitchen was good enough for cooking.
The host was kind, responsive, and communicative.

What could be improved: There's no microwave, and the fridge was a bit old..

A great location, quiet and right next to an excellent bakery and the metro stop. You could walk to the edge of the old town or the train station easily, although both were only two metro stops away. The Octoberfest ground were even closer! The apartment itself was very nice. It could use some refreshing, but it was otherwise clean and quiet. I had no trouble finding and accessing the keys: the video for doing so was excellent. Any questions I had were promptly handled by the host. I would recommend this apartment and I would stay here again.

What could be improved: Pillows were sad. The one yellow one on the couch was scary. You have to nit-pick to find anything to complain about, really this place was great for our needs.

Nice flat in a lovely area. We only stayed 1 night (for the football - Euros), but overall the flat was perfect for what we needed!

What could be improved: The hot water did not accommodate 5 adults having to shower in the morning.
