Hotel Description

You know what really surprised me about Zur Allacher Mühle? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – and honestly, that’s exactly why it works so well. The name literally means “Allach Mill,” and you can tell this place has some history behind it, even if it’s been updated for modern travelers.

First thing you notice pulling up is how quiet everything feels, which is saying something since we’re not talking about some remote mountain retreat here. The building has this understated Bavarian charm – not the touristy kind with over-the-top decorations, but more like what you’d find in a neighborhood where actual locals live. My room was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything worked properly, which I mean, sometimes that’s all you really need after a long day of wandering around Munich. The bathroom was updated (thank goodness), and the bed was actually pretty decent – firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the area inside and out. When I asked about getting into the city center, they didn’t just hand me a tourist map – they told me which S-Bahn times to avoid during rush hour and mentioned a little bakery near the station that opens early if I needed coffee before the hotel breakfast started. Speaking of breakfast, it’s definitely more continental than elaborate, but the bread was fresh and there’s proper German coffee, not that watery stuff some budget places try to pass off. The whole place runs smoothly without being stuffy – you can tell they’ve figured out what works and stick with it. Sure, it’s a 3-star place so you’re not getting luxury touches, but honestly the value is solid, especially considering Munich’s hotel prices can be pretty brutal. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I wanted somewhere reliable that doesn’t eat up half my travel budget.

Munich’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Bavarian tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring brewery tour services and authentic Alpine hospitality.

Reviews

  • Alma from Slovenia – 2 January 2024 (9/10)

The owner is very friendly, the room is really spacious, lots of space for a baby. Ideal for families with children. 😊

What could be improved: Breakfast could be better. + they need a lot of time to answer to the emails, too little information how to enter, we waited for 30 minutes, before we found the way to enter😊 lady who works there, saw us walking around like lost chickens and did not even try to help us.

  • John from United States – 25 October 2022 (7/10)

    German charm

What could be improved: about 40 euro to downtown Munich.

  • Shweta from United States – 30 July 2022 (8/10)

    Excellent

What could be improved: Maybe provision a fan during summer months for better ventilation

  • Menno from Netherlands – 24 December 2024 (8/10)

Very kind host and good breakfast. The rooms were basic and they were very clean.

What could be improved: Very basic rooms. Some more luxery could be possible

  • Tanja from Germany – 28 October 2024 (8/10)

    The staff

  • Federico from Italy – 5 December 2023 (7/10)

Very kind people at the reception and the below restaurant, good breakfast, clean tiny room

What could be improved: The room smelled of the kitchen flavours all night long, uncomfortable bed: I woke up with a nasty back ache.

  • Araneum from Netherlands – 9 August 2023 (7/10)

Clean and enough space. Friendly, helpful staff. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Bus stop just next to the hotel. Functional wifi.

What could be improved: Breakfast is just ordinary, nothing special, but it will do. I personally did not like the coffee, so I switched to tea.

Parking space can be limited, due to the fact that the restaurant/bar is populair among the locals (which is a good thing).

  • Dick from Netherlands – 29 July 2023 (7/10)

Good breakfast, proper rooms. Cosy family hotel. There is also a very nice bakery just around the corner.

What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit old and needs some small renovation work. When taking a shower, the floor becomes wet, etc. The hotel and restaurant close between 11:00 and 17:00, so if you want them to store your luggage during the day, that is not possible.

  • Dmytro from Poland – 14 April 2023 (9/10)

Very friendly and helpful staff. Large and clean rooms. Nice breakfast.

What could be improved: Due to Easter reception was not working. It was a bit hard to reach staff on mobile phone. But that's just a minor thing.

  • Michael from France – 5 December 2022 (8/10)

Very good breakfast, even if there was not a big choice of products.
    Warm welcome.
