You know what struck me first about Wohnung mit Charme? The name actually delivers – this place really does have charm, which honestly surprised me because hotel names can be pretty hit or miss. It’s tucked away on Begonienstraße in Schwabing-Freimann, and I mean really tucked away. You’re not going to stumble across this one by accident, but that’s actually part of its appeal.

The neighborhood itself is one of those areas that feels properly Munich without being touristy. I walked to the nearest U-Bahn station (Freimann) in about eight minutes, and there’s this great little bakery around the corner where locals actually line up for pretzels in the morning – you know, the kind of place where they look at you funny if you don’t speak German. The apartment-style setup means you get a real sense of living in the city rather than just visiting it. I had a kitchen, which came in handy after hitting the Viktualienmarkt, and honestly, after a few days of heavy Bavarian food, being able to make a simple salad felt like a luxury.

What I really appreciated – and this might sound weird – was how quiet it gets at night. Schwabing-Freimann isn’t the party district (that’s more Glockenbachviertel or parts of Maxvorstadt), so you can actually sleep without earplugs. The rooms have this lived-in feeling that’s comfortable rather than sterile, though I’ll be honest, the furnishings are a bit dated. Not in a charming vintage way, more in a “your German aunt’s spare bedroom” way, but everything works and it’s clean. The Wi-Fi was solid, which mattered since I was working remotely for part of my stay. Parking was surprisingly manageable for Munich – there’s street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, though you’ll want to move your car on market days. The whole experience felt more like staying in someone’s well-maintained apartment than a traditional hotel, which makes sense given the name. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – just don’t expect flashy amenities or a concierge. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to friends who want to experience Munich like a local rather than a tourist, especially if they’re planning to stay more than a couple nights.

  The location was perfect for us as it was situated in a quiet residential area yet only a 5 minute walk to the underground network. The apartment itself was clean throughout and had all the facilities needed for a short stay plus everything worked.
  
  What could be improved: Only a minor thing but the garden is in need of some attention; less weeds and a few colourful plants would brighten it up on the outside.

  Spacious, comfortable and quiet apartment near to the ubahn for easy trips into Munich. Such a great budget option. The owner was really helpful. When we had a problem because we accidentally locked ourselves out she was very quick to get back to us to help us sort the problem out. I’d definitely stay again.

  The location is prefect, tw proximity of the biergaten and the park must be more elevated! The accommodation was nice, clean, and equipped. Everything you need for a stay without a worry.

  The host was great, met me earlier than the checking time to give the keys and make the checking, the apartment is great, plenty of space, nice living room and rooms, the bed is comfy, near the train/metro (around 6min from it), around 40min from Oktoberfest in the train

  Schöne Wohnung im EG. Zwei getrennte Schlafzimmer plus Wohnzimmer und Wohnküche sorgten für einen gemütlichen Aufenthalt. Viel Platz und im Sommer auch ein schöner Garten. U-Bahn fußläufig gut erreichbar.

  Sehr geschmackvoll und funktional und trotzdem gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Wohnung liegt im Erdgeschoss eines naturbelassenen Gartens. Man schaut also mitten in München voll ins Grüne. Auch die Küche war mit allem Notwendigen ausgestattet.
  
  What could be improved: In der näheren Umgebung gibt es keine Einkaufsmöglichkeit, außer in ca. 10 Gehminuten ein Bäcker.
