The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot between traditional charm and modern functionality – you’ll find proper reading lights (thank god) and decent Wi-Fi, but also those little touches that remind you you’re somewhere with history.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their area. When I asked about local restaurants, I didn’t get the usual tourist trap recommendations – instead, they pointed me toward places where locals actually eat, complete with warnings about which nights get crowded and when to show up for the best tables. The breakfast setup was solid too, nothing revolutionary but fresh bread, local cheeses, and coffee that didn’t taste like it came from a machine that’s been neglected for months. Honestly, the whole experience felt refreshingly unpretentious. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with cutting-edge design or trendy cocktails, but sometimes you just want a place that does hospitality well without the theater. The kind of spot where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to dress up to walk through the lobby. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentic rather than Instagram-perfect, Weichandhof delivers exactly what a good 4-star should – comfort, reliability, and that subtle sense that the people running it actually care about whether you have a decent stay.

  The staff at the reception, especially the 2 ladies in the morning shift in the reception, they helped us alot.

  Good size room, generous and varied breakfast. The restaurant offered a good choice for dinner. They moved us to another room when we complained about the smell in the room they initially assigned us to. Apparently this was a problem in that corner of the hotel.

  The property was great, and it wasn’t hard to figure out the bus to the tram into the city center. The staff were terrific. The breakfast was excellent.

  Lovely staff especially on arrival by a young Spanish man who spoke great english an had awesome tips for the city an travelling, awesome breakfast which was served by the sweetest lady. The room was very spacious. The beer garden restaurant was the best pork I’ve ever had an has a playground for the kids.
