Hotel Description
You know what? I’ve walked past the Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski probably a hundred times over the years, and it still catches my eye every single time. There’s something about that classic Maximilianstrasse facade that just screams old-world Munich elegance – though honestly, it manages to do it without feeling stuffy or pretentious, which is harder to pull off than you’d think.
The thing that really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between traditional Bavarian luxury and modern comfort. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Frauenkirche and right in the heart of Munich’s shopping district, but once you’re inside, the chaos of the city just… disappears. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (and I’m talking about the housekeeping team, not just the front desk), which tells you something about how they train people here. The rooms – well, they’re what you’d expect from a five-star Kempinski, but there are these little touches that surprised me. The marble bathrooms are gorgeous, sure, but they also thought to put hooks in actually useful places, and the shower pressure is absolutely perfect. Sometimes it’s the practical stuff that makes or breaks a stay, you know?
What I really appreciate is the location – you can walk to Viktualienmarkt in about eight minutes for proper coffee and pretzels (skip the hotel breakfast if you want the real Munich experience), and the English Garden is close enough for morning runs if that’s your thing. The Maximilianstrasse entrance means you’re right where all the action is, but here’s the insider tip: the rooms facing the courtyard are incredibly quiet, even during Oktoberfest season when the whole city basically loses its mind. Speaking of which, book way ahead if you’re planning to visit during festival time – this place fills up with people who know Munich well and come back year after year. The concierge team actually knows their stuff too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that’s become. They’ll steer you toward neighborhood gems instead of just the obvious tourist traps, and they can get reservations at restaurants where most hotels would just shrug and hand you a generic list. Is it expensive? Absolutely. But if you’re going to splurge on Munich – and honestly, it’s that kind of city – this is where you want to do it.
Hotels in Munich offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Alpine metropolis, with easy access to castles, museums, and traditional German experiences.

Large stylish A list hotel. Staff were extremely professional. Lots of good eating/drinking facilities on site if you are prepared to pay that much.
What could be improved: Pretty slow to remove the E200 hold on my credit card –Andrea from United States – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
The location was amazing – walking distance to old town. Staff was helpful and food in the lobby restaurant was good. Love the bathrobes. So great that they were willing to put a third real bed in the room for us.
What could be improved: The towels were kind of hard. The automatic toilet seat was annoying. On the third day I finally figured out how to turn it off.Williams from Australia – 5 January 2025 (8/10)
Proximity to Munich CBD
What could be improved: Hotel amenities were dated and offered limited rangeJeffrey from United States – 3 January 2025 (9/10)
This hotel is exceptional. Definitely the hotel itself was a highlight of our visit to Munich.. Fantastic rooms, amazing staff and the hotel lobby is a place to enjoy a drink and people watch. Two bars with amazing bartenders.
