Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first heard the name “Unsöld’s Factory Hotel” – honestly, it sounds a bit industrial and cold, right? But walking into this place completely changed my perspective. It’s one of those clever conversions where they’ve taken what was obviously some kind of manufacturing space and turned it into something genuinely special. The bones of the original building are still there – exposed brick walls, high ceilings with original beams, and these massive windows that flood the place with natural light during the day.
The whole vibe is this perfect mix of industrial chic and actual comfort. I mean, some boutique places go so hard on the “authentic” factory aesthetic that you end up sleeping on what feels like a concrete slab, but they’ve nailed the balance here. The rooms have character without sacrificing the basics you actually need – good water pressure, blackout curtains that work, and beds that don’t leave you wondering if you should’ve just stayed home. What I really appreciated was how they kept some of the quirky details from the building’s past life. There are these old machinery mounts still embedded in the floors of the hallways, and they’ve incorporated some of the original signage into the decor in a way that feels authentic rather than forced.
The staff clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about getting around the area, the front desk person actually gave me useful local advice instead of just handing me a generic tourist map. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you spend time here. It’s not trying to be some over-the-top luxury experience, but everything works well and the attention to detail is obvious. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted something with personality that wasn’t going to break the bank. The whole place has this relaxed energy that makes you want to actually hang out in the common areas instead of hiding in your room scrolling your phone.

Guest Reviews
Great location and great style to the hotel. We didn’t eat there and had a fly in fly out visit
What could be improved: It was great
Very clean, nice rooms and very friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic, very good selection.
What could be improved: The breakfast area and rooms were very warm, it seemed like the heaters were on full blast.
Location and the rooms are great! Very nice breakfast
Really conveniently located and comfortable furniture
Position, private parking, staff kindness, style & furniture, excellent breakfast
What could be improved: Small bathroom
Nice modern hotel, with friendly welcoming staff. The single room was a little small (to be expected) but very well laid out with modern equipment. My room was blissfully quiet, especially considering how close the hotel is to the city centre, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely stay here again.
What could be improved: No kettle or tea/coffee in the rooms, but this is a small point and I think might not be the norm in Germany.
Clean, modern and a real nod to the history of the site.
Polite helpful staff.
+ Location and neighborhood is nice and rooms were quiet
Nice room. Bed was comfortable and staff was very nice.
What could be improved: Shower way to small. Breakfast pricy so opted out.
Good Location, very friendly staff, very clean and all facillites available
What could be improved: the mattress was too soft. parking was also a issue and complicated. they wrote me, after I asked how much parking was for our stay, that "parking costs €29" but failed to mention the "per day" in the message.
