Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Sure Hotel by Best Western near München Hauptbahnhof – it’s one of those places that does exactly what it promises without any fancy surprises. And honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

The location is pretty much unbeatable if you’re doing the train thing. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which sounds chaotic but actually works in your favor. You can stumble off a late train from Prague or wherever and be in your room within ten minutes – no complicated U-Bahn connections or expensive taxi rides through Munich traffic. The area around the station has that slightly gritty, international vibe that all major European train hubs have, but it’s not sketchy or anything. Just busy, you know? There’s a decent Turkish place right around the corner that stays open late, and a Rossmann if you forgot toothpaste.

What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything felt. The lobby’s clean and modern without trying too hard, the staff actually seemed to know what they were doing (check-in took maybe three minutes), and the rooms are… well, they’re hotel rooms. Not Instagram-worthy, but the beds are comfortable enough and the bathrooms work properly. The sound insulation is better than you’d expect considering you’re basically next to one of Germany’s busiest train stations – I could hear some rumbling if I really listened for it, but it wasn’t keeping me awake. Actually, there’s something almost comforting about those distant train sounds late at night. The AC works well too, which matters more than people think, especially during those surprisingly hot Munich summers.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t where you’d bring someone for a romantic weekend. It’s more like your reliable friend who always shows up on time. The breakfast is perfectly adequate (decent coffee, proper German bread, nothing fancy but you won’t leave hungry), and they’ve got that typical Best Western efficiency thing down. I stayed here twice last year when I had early morning flights from Munich, and both times it just… worked. No drama, no unpleasant surprises, no having to explain to the front desk why the shower wasn’t heating up.

The 7.1 rating feels about right – it’s solidly above average without being exceptional. You’re paying for location and reliability more than charm or luxury, and most of the time that’s a fair trade. If you’re the type of traveler who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway, this place gives you a clean, comfortable base without the premium you’d pay for something closer to Marienplatz. Plus, being near the station means you’re connected to everything – the S-Bahn to the airport runs right from there, and you can catch trains to Salzburg or the castles without any fuss. It’s functional travel done well, which honestly beats fancy hotels with terrible locations every time.

  What could be improved: Initially, we were put in a room that was much smaller than anticipated and reeked of smoke so bad we felt ill. We went down to the front desk and they moved us to a room identical to the one in the photos we booked. This new room had a no smoking sign on the door vs the original one did not. We felt as if they were trying to rip us off by putting us into that tiny smokers room at the beginning of our stay. They also told us no one smoked in that room but someone clearly had been.

  The property is just across the street from Hbf which was perfect for me since I needed to Cath the 3:30 am train to Frankfurt. The room was cozy. The three persons at the front desk who I interacted with were very kind and professional.

  Sure Hotel in Munich was a great choice for our one-night stay. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and our room was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent — just a short walk to the old town — though the area is a bit busy. Fortunately, the windows were well-insulated, so noise wasn’t an issue.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside was the parking situation. We used a nearby parking garage (in Hirtenstrasse) and were told we’d receive a discount after getting a stamp from the hotel. The receptionist scanned something and assured us it was taken care of, but we ended up paying the full €30 for a day of parking. It was a bit disappointing, but overall, our stay at the hotel itself was pleasant.
