Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Sofitel Munich Bayerpost feels like stepping into a piece of Bavarian history that’s been given a sophisticated French makeover. This five-star property sits right on Bayerstraße, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which means you can drop your bags and be exploring Munich within minutes. The building itself has this grand, old-world charm that immediately tells you this place has stories to tell.
The Heart of Munich
You know what I love about staying here? You’re positioned perfectly between the train station buzz and the quieter residential streets of Ludwigsvorstadt. I mean, couples consistently rate this location around 8.6 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. The Marienplatz is an easy stroll away, but you’re also close enough to those authentic beer gardens that tourists often miss. There’s parking right at the hotel too, which is honestly a godsend if you’re driving in Munich — trust me, you don’t want to be hunting for a spot in this city.
Luxury Accommodations
The room I stayed in was spacious by European standards, with that distinctly French elegance Sofitel is known for. The beds here are genuinely exceptional — and I’m someone who usually struggles to sleep well in hotels. There’s something about the quality of the linens and the mattress that just works. The design strikes this perfect balance between modern luxury and classic Bavarian touches, with rich fabrics and thoughtful lighting that makes you want to actually spend time in your room rather than just crash there.
Dining Excellence
Breakfast at this place is actually impressive — they’ve got everything from continental classics to Italian options, plus proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant serves up this interesting fusion of French technique with local Bavarian ingredients, and while it’s not cheap, the quality is there. What surprised me was how many guests I noticed were clearly repeat visitors — apparently this hotel has more returning guests than most properties, which says something about the experience they’re delivering.
Why Guests Love It
There’s this understated luxury here that feels authentic rather than flashy. The staff genuinely knows the city and can point you toward experiences beyond the typical tourist trail. The combination of that prime location, consistently excellent service, and those incredibly comfortable beds creates something special. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Munich properly — close enough to everything that matters, but in a setting that feels refined and peaceful when you need to recharge. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to enhance your stay in this remarkable Bavarian capital.

Guest Reviews
The room was very nice and clean, service was impeccable.
What could be improved: The location next to the Hauptbanhof is a bit weird for a luxury hotel, however the Block itself and the street from the hotel onwards is very nice. And the typical crowd that tends to hang around any main railway station in the world does not spill over to the hotel. So the location is more a feeling than an actual downside.
I loved the Sauna it was amazing and it made up for the room.
What could be improved: The room was okay, but the facilities more than made up for the room.
Staff, location, room comfort
The entire experience was majestic
What could be improved: Glass 'door' in the bathroom. Not my cup of tea.

What could be improved: Price

Excellent facilities and location for the train station
Central, next to main station
What could be improved: Busy
Location and staff
What could be improved: Breakfast can be improved
Impressive building and the decor, while getting a bit old now, is still impressive. The swimming pool is the absolute highlight every time. The food is excellent.
What could be improved: The staff seem to be undertrained and overwhelmed. They are nice and well-meaning, but rather incompetent-not what one would expect.
Very nicely renovated hotel with luxury feeling and nice staff. Location is central (close to everything) but is also it's major low point. Decoration is very nice being a very ample hotel. Price was very fair for this level of hotel.
What could be improved: The location near the central station means that it is central in terms of location with easy access everywhere but at night it feels not safe to leave the hotel on walking and during the day (like in all central stations in Germany) the environment is not great. Also a lot of reconstruction going around so this may be changed in upcoming years.
