When I first pulled up to Walter-Gropius-Strasse (yeah, named after the Bauhaus architect, which makes sense once you see the building), I thought “well, this looks… functional.” And that’s actually not a bad thing here. The whole Parkstadt Schwabing area is still finding its personality – it’s this newer development that locals either love for being quiet and planned out, or find a bit sterile compared to the chaos of central Munich. But you know what? After staying here, I get why people are moving to this part of Schwabing-Freimann.

The smartments concept is pretty clever, actually – they’re going for that extended-stay vibe even if you’re just there for a weekend. Your room feels more like a mini-apartment than a hotel room, which I mean, at first seemed almost too minimal. But then you realize everything’s exactly where it should be, and there’s this oddly satisfying efficiency to it all. The kitchenette isn’t just for show either – there’s a proper fridge and cooking setup that actually works. I ended up grabbing groceries from the Edeka just down the street more than I expected to. The bed’s comfortable enough (though not luxurious), and here’s something I appreciated – it’s genuinely quiet at night. You’re far enough from the Autobahn and the main Schwabing action that you actually sleep well, but close enough to the U-Bahn that getting into the city center doesn’t feel like an expedition.

What surprised me most was how the whole area comes alive during the day. There’s this nice green space basically across the street – nothing fancy, but perfect for a morning coffee if you’re jet-lagged or just need some air. And the U3 line from Oberwiesenfeld gets you to Marienplatz in about 20 minutes, which honestly beats dealing with parking in the Altstadt any day. The staff here operates more like apartment building management than traditional hotel service – they’re helpful when you need them, but they’re not hovering around trying to upsell you on spa treatments. Check-in was smooth, though the lobby feels a bit like a corporate reception area. I’d probably book this place again, especially for longer stays or if I had work stuff in the northern part of Munich. It’s not going to give you that “I’m staying in the heart of Bavaria” feeling, but sometimes you just want a clean, quiet base that doesn’t cost a fortune and actually functions well. Plus, you’re still in Munich – the beer gardens and all that good stuff are just a train ride away.

  Excellent location – close to public transport and grocery stores. Comfortable apartment for our week stay.

  The apartment was very clean and there was enough room for 3 guests. The check in and check out process was super easy and the location of the apartment was great (very close to the metro and close to a mall).
