Honestly, Smart Stay Hotel Station caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, when you hear “3-star hotel near a train station,” you’re probably picturing something pretty basic, right? But this place actually gets it – they know exactly what travelers need without all the fancy stuff you’ll never use.

The location is what really sold me on it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the main station (hence the name, obviously), which sounds like it’d be noisy as hell, but here’s the thing – the rooms facing away from the tracks are surprisingly quiet. I stayed on the third floor and could barely hear the trains, though I’ll be honest, if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe request a room on the opposite side just to be safe. What I loved is that you can actually walk to most of the good local spots – there’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM if you’re catching an early train, and the staff there seemed to know all the regulars by name. The whole neighborhood has this lived-in feel that you don’t get in the touristy areas.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re smart about space, let’s put it that way. Everything you need is there – decent shower pressure (seriously, I’ve stayed at 4-star places with worse water pressure), a bed that’s actually comfortable, and enough outlets for all your devices. The Wi-Fi worked great throughout my stay, which honestly matters more to me than thread count these days. Check-in was smooth too – the front desk staff spoke pretty good English and seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. One guy even drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid construction on the main street. You know what really impressed me though? The breakfast. It’s nothing fancy, but they had actual local pastries alongside the usual hotel spread, and the coffee didn’t taste like it came from a machine that hadn’t been cleaned since 2019. Little touches like that make a difference when you’re trying to get a feel for a place. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards – the decor is pretty standard hotel stuff – but everything works, it’s clean, and the 7.3 rating makes sense. It’s exactly what it promises to be: a solid, no-nonsense place to stay when you want to be connected to everything without paying for amenities you won’t use.

  Perfect Location close the Central Station. Great Value for money. Bed and Shower perfect. Was exactly what I was looking for.

  Very close to the town centre with restaurants nearby. Good bed and excellent shower with lots of hot water.

  I did not have breakfast at the hotel but the location for visiting Munich was excellent, I could not have wished for better. The hotel is not a luxury hotel but for the cost I got everything I needed and the staff were courteous. It is located close to the rail links, day excursions and the Old Town, which is the reason I chose this hotel.
  The man on reception, when I left was excellent, I wish I had asked his name, as the day before I had asked the young lady to organise a taxi for me to be there at 8 am. This was not done but the young man did not hesitate to organise one and he managed to get me a taxi within 10 minutes to take me to the airport, which I really appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: I always take my mini travel kettle with me which is great as I can have a hot drink in my room in the mornings and the evenings.
