Hotel Description
Okay, so first things first – Högl Living isn’t your typical hotel situation. It’s actually a serviced apartment right in Munich’s center, which honestly makes way more sense if you’re planning to stay for more than a couple nights. I mean, having a proper kitchen and living space when you’re exploring Munich? That’s gold right there.
The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re literally in the heart of everything – and I don’t mean that in the generic travel brochure way. You can walk to Marienplatz in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you get distracted by all the little shops along the way (which you will). The apartment building itself sits on one of those classic Munich streets where you’ve got cafes spilling onto sidewalks and that perfect mix of locals heading to work and tourists trying to figure out their maps. There’s this great bakery practically next door that does incredible pretzels – the kind where the salt crystals are still crunchy and the bread has that perfect chew to it.
What I actually loved about staying here was how it felt like having a temporary Munich address rather than just passing through. The apartments are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly is all you need. The kitchen has real plates and glasses, not those flimsy things some places give you, and there’s enough counter space to actually spread out if you pick up ingredients from the Viktualienmarkt. Speaking of which, that’s maybe a twenty-minute walk south, and it’s absolutely worth doing your shopping there instead of the touristy spots. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re working remotely or just trying to figure out Munich’s public transport system (which, by the way, is fantastic once you get the hang of it).
Now, it’s a 3-star place with a 7.5 rating, so you know what you’re getting – it’s not luxury, but it’s not trying to be. The beds are comfortable enough, though the pillows are a bit soft for my taste. The shower has good pressure, which after walking around Munich all day is basically a blessing. One thing to note is that the building can get a bit echoey in the mornings when people are leaving for work, but honestly, that just adds to the feeling of being part of the neighborhood rather than isolated in some hotel bubble.
What really makes this place work is the freedom it gives you. You can grab groceries and make coffee exactly how you like it, or cook a simple dinner after spending way too much on beer and schnitzel during the day. Plus, if you’re here during Oktoberfest season – well, having your own space to recover is pretty much essential. The staff is helpful without being overly present, and check-in was straightforward. It’s the kind of place where you feel settled by the second day, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience Munich instead of just checking it off a list.
Munich’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Bavarian tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring brewery tour services and authentic Alpine hospitality.

My stay at Apartment Montenstraße 9 was truly relaxing. The location is fantastic, just a short 5-minute walk from local organic grocery stores, making it convenient for all my needs. I loved taking leisurely strolls around the nearby lake, where I enjoyed the peaceful scene of children ice skating—such a charming winter atmosphere.
The apartment itself offered a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind while still being close to the heart of Munich. A perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility!
What could be improved: I believe it would have been beneficial if the owners provided details about how the key box looks, as that could ease the check-in process. Additionally, having extra trash bags in the kitchen would have been helpful.Steven from Germany – 12 April 2025 (8/10)
Zimmeraufteilung,
What could be improved: Qualität der Renovierungsarbeiten (lockere Duschfliese, fehlende Rolladen im kleinen Zimmer links)Maphi from Austria – 21 April 2025 (8/10)

Steve from Germany – 18 February 2025 (7/10)
