You know what surprised me about the Residence Inn near Ostbahnhof? It actually feels like a proper neighborhood spot, not just another chain hotel dumped next to a train station. I mean, when you first hear “Ostbahnhof,” you might think industrial and touristy, but this area’s gotten really interesting over the past few years – there’s this whole creative district vibe happening just a few blocks away.

The hotel itself hits that sweet spot where it’s polished enough to feel like you’re treating yourself well, but not so fancy that you’re afraid to leave your coffee cup on the nightstand. The rooms are proper apartment-style setups with kitchenettes, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. I love that you can grab groceries from the Edeka down the street and actually cook something instead of eating hotel breakfast every single day. The staff seems to get that people are using this place as a home base – they’re helpful without being hovery, if that makes sense. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling attempts, and they had solid recommendations for places that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.

Location-wise, you’re right on the S-Bahn line, so getting to Marienplatz or the Englischer Garten is genuinely easy – like 10-15 minutes, not the “just minutes away!” marketing nonsense some places claim. But here’s the thing I didn’t expect: the neighborhood around Ostbahnhof has some really solid local spots. There’s this excellent Vietnamese place called Saigon Star just a short walk away, and if you wander toward the Isar, you’ll find way better beer gardens than the crowded ones near the old town. The hotel sits on a relatively quiet street despite being near the station – you might hear some train sounds if you’re really listening for them, but it’s not disruptive. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving (honestly, just don’t drive in Munich if you can help it), but the public transport connections more than make up for it. The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but everything works the way it should, the beds are actually comfortable, and you’ll probably find yourself recommending it to friends who want to stay somewhere practical without feeling like they’re roughing it.

  It is an industrial and business location close to train station Munich East. The apartment was very nice, luxury and comfortable. There is also a convenient parking available, not so expensive for a hotel quest. Small shopping mall is around a corner.
  
  What could be improved: The room wasn't ready at 15:00 PM which wasn't too good after a long trip. But this is a detail.

  Breakfast was okay, it's as per usual but it's still yummy and fulfilling. Extra point for hot coffee and comfortable room, easy access from parking to the room as well (with card and security). And they have shops (like supermarket and DM) in the same building , which we love it and easy for us.
