Overview

Okay, so first things first – don’t let the name fool you into thinking this is some cramped studio situation. The “Quiet Family Apartment” actually lives up to both parts of its promise, and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think in Munich. I mean, finding a place that’s genuinely quiet AND has enough space for more than two people without breaking the bank? It’s like finding a decent pretzel outside of Bavaria.

The location is what really sold me on this place, though I’ll admit it took me a day to fully appreciate it. You’re tucked into Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, which – and I can’t stress this enough – is where actual Müncheners live, not just tourists stumbling between beer halls. The apartment sits on Montenstraße, this tree-lined residential street that feels worlds away from the chaos around Marienplatz, but you can still hop on the U1 at Rotkreuzplatz and be in the thick of things within ten minutes. During Oktoberfest (which, let’s be real, is probably why you’re looking at Munich accommodations), this becomes absolutely invaluable because you can escape back to sanity when the lederhosen crowds get overwhelming.

What I loved most was stepping out onto that balcony in the morning with coffee and realizing you can actually see the spires of Nymphenburg Palace peeking through the trees. The palace grounds are literally a five-minute walk – I’m talking about those perfectly manicured baroque gardens where locals jog and families have proper picnics, not tourist photo ops. The Botanical Garden is right there too, and honestly, if you need to decompress after a heavy night of Augustiner, those glass houses full of tropical plants work better than any hangover cure. The free parking was clutch because, well, parking in Munich usually costs more than dinner, and the spot is actually protected – none of that street parking anxiety where you’re wondering if your rental car will still have mirrors when you get back.

The apartment itself feels lived-in but well-maintained, sort of like staying at a German aunt’s place who has good taste but isn’t precious about everything being perfect. The kitchen actually has proper equipment (not just a hot plate and prayer), and there’s enough space in the living area that you’re not stepping on each other. The 7.2 rating feels about right – it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors, but everything works, it’s clean, and the shower has decent water pressure. You know what really impressed me though? How quiet it gets at night. Even with the windows open in summer, you’re hearing birds and maybe the occasional tram, not drunk tourists singing Queen songs at 3 AM.

If you’re the type who wants to experience Munich like you live there for a week rather than just hitting the tourist circuit, this place makes perfect sense. You’ll grocery shop where the locals do, grab your morning coffee from the corner bakery, and take evening walks through neighborhood streets that don’t appear in any guidebook – but probably should.

A nice place with lots of potential

Host was very friendly and responsive following us being put into the wrong apartment due to a booking mix up and a couple of bits needed.

Bed and furniture was very comfortable and stylish.

Location was great and in easy reach of Munich.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, there were a few essential items for day to day living missing which would be really useful e.g. drying rack for washed clothes and hand towels. An info pack of leaflets and things to do in the area, where the bins are etc would be a nice touch, but all in all, we would return now we know what to expect. ☺️
