You’ll find yourself wandering past actual neighborhood bakeries and corner shops where locals do their shopping, which is honestly refreshing after dealing with tourist-heavy spots around Marienplatz. The public transport connections are solid too – I never waited more than eight or nine minutes for a tram, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without that annoying transfer dance you sometimes have to do from more “centrally located” places.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the kind of place you book if you want someone bringing you fresh towels twice a day or a concierge who knows all the restaurant reservations. It’s more like having a reliable home base where everything works (the WiFi actually works, the shower has decent pressure, the heating doesn’t sound like it’s about to explode), and you can spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The rating makes sense when you think about it that way – people seem to get what they expect, maybe a little more. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during Oktoberfest season when everywhere else either doubles their prices or books solid months ahead. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just do the basics really, really well.
