Overview
You know what struck me first about Premium Apartment München Messe? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with fancy lobbies or over-the-top amenities, but somehow ends up being exactly what you need. I mean, the name pretty much tells you everything – it’s positioned for people heading to the trade fairs, but honestly, it works just as well if you’re exploring Munich and want something that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a cookie-cutter hotel room. The apartments have that lived-in quality that three-star places do really well when they’re not trying to be something they’re not. There’s actual counter space in the kitchenette (thank god), and the furniture looks like someone actually thought about how you’d use the space rather than just what would photograph well.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you’re close enough to the Messe that you can practically walk there with your trade show materials, but far enough from the hauptbahnhof chaos that you’re not dealing with constant sirens and late-night foot traffic. The whole area has this residential feel that most visitors to Munich never experience. You’ll find yourself wandering past actual neighborhood bakeries and corner shops where locals do their shopping, which is honestly refreshing after dealing with tourist-heavy spots around Marienplatz. The public transport connections are solid too – I never waited more than eight or nine minutes for a tram, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without that annoying transfer dance you sometimes have to do from more “centrally located” places.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the kind of place you book if you want someone bringing you fresh towels twice a day or a concierge who knows all the restaurant reservations. It’s more like having a reliable home base where everything works (the WiFi actually works, the shower has decent pressure, the heating doesn’t sound like it’s about to explode), and you can spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The rating makes sense when you think about it that way – people seem to get what they expect, maybe a little more. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during Oktoberfest season when everywhere else either doubles their prices or books solid months ahead. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just do the basics really, really well.
Best hotels in Munich range from charming boutique properties near Marienplatz to elegant Bavarian-style hotels with stunning views of the Alps and historic city center.
