Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of Premier Inns across Europe, and honestly? This Schwabing location really surprised me. You know how some chain hotels feel like they could be anywhere – well, this one actually feels like it belongs in Munich. The moment you walk in, there’s something more… I don’t know, thoughtful about the whole setup compared to your typical cookie-cutter spot.

Schwabing itself is brilliant for exploring the city – you’re basically in Munich’s Greenwich Village, if that makes sense. The area has this great mix of students from the nearby university and locals who’ve been here forever, so you get proper German bakeries next to trendy little bars that stay open way too late. I mean, you can walk to the English Garden in about ten minutes, which is perfect for those morning runs (or afternoon beer garden sessions, let’s be honest). The U-Bahn connections are solid too – Münchener Freiheit station gets you to Marienplatz in maybe fifteen minutes without any of the tourist chaos you’d deal with staying right in the center.

What actually impressed me most was how they’ve managed to make a 3-star place feel more upscale than it probably should. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Munich, after all, where space costs a fortune – but they’re cleverly designed with these deep blue accents that somehow make everything feel cozier rather than cramped. The beds are proper comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the shower pressure is surprisingly good for Germany. One small thing that bugged me though – the walls aren’t the thickest, so if you get stuck next to a family with kids, you’ll know about it. But honestly, most guests seemed pretty respectful during my stay. The breakfast setup is better than standard Premier Inn fare too, with some local touches like proper German bread and decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since 6 AM. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke excellent English, and they actually gave helpful suggestions about where to grab dinner nearby rather than just pointing you toward the tourist traps. For the price point – especially in a city where hotel costs can absolutely destroy your budget – this place delivers way more than you’d expect from the 8.3 rating, which honestly feels a bit conservative.

  What could be improved: I really don’t understand the thinking why is the reception on 6th floor. Quite inconvenient, also a bit confusing when you arrive at the hotel.
