Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Parkhotel Rothof? The name actually makes sense when you see it – there’s this lovely parkland feel to the whole property that you don’t expect from a lot of four-star places. I mean, most hotels this nice are stuck in busy commercial areas, but the Rothof has managed to carve out this surprisingly peaceful spot that feels almost residential.
The thing that really won me over was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between being polished enough for business travelers (and trust me, there are plenty of them here) but still relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you need to whisper in the lobby. The check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out “let me tell you about every single hotel feature” routine. The staff clearly knows their regulars, which is always a good sign, and they had this easy familiarity that made me think people actually choose to come back here rather than just ending up here by accident.
What honestly surprised me most was the attention to those little details that solo travelers and couples really notice. The rooms are genuinely quiet – I stayed on what I think was the third floor and barely heard any hallway noise, even during the breakfast rush. The beds are proper firm (not that squishy hotel standard that leaves you feeling like you slept in quicksand), and someone clearly thought about the lighting because you can actually read without squinting or getting a neck crick. The bathroom setup is smart too – decent counter space and one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has good pressure. I’ve stayed in five-star places where the shower was basically decorative, so this felt like a win.
The breakfast situation is solid without being overwhelming – they’ve got that European hotel spread down to a science, with proper coffee and local touches that feel authentic rather than touristy. I noticed they switch things up slightly day to day too, which suggests they’re actually paying attention rather than just going through the motions. The dining area gets decent morning light, and there are enough tables that you’re not playing musical chairs even when it’s busy.
Honestly, the 8.9 rating feels about right – maybe even a bit conservative. This isn’t the kind of place that’s trying to be Instagram-famous or win design awards, but it’s got that reliability factor that makes you think “yeah, I’d book this again” when you’re planning your next trip. The whole operation just feels like it’s run by people who actually understand what makes a hotel stay work well, rather than what looks good in promotional photos. If you’re the type who values sleeping well and starting your day without drama over flashy amenities you’ll probably never use, the Rothof delivers exactly what you’re hoping for.

Mariaan from South Africa – 12 May 2025 (9/10)
We enjoyed our stay. It felt very homely just a short distance from the busy city centre, which was very easy to reach by train. The staff was friendly and helpful; breakfast was very good. Our room was spacious and quiet. We would love to visit again.
What could be improved: It is personal, but I think the pillows and duvets can be a bit fluffier and even bigger.Andrea from Italy – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: For those who drive to here, Be attention to the Parking ! It is rather narrow and our suv had a large scratch, which is really sad.Susan from United Kingdom – 4 May 2025 (8/10)
Good location. Nice setting
What could be improved: The room we had was very close to the road. As there is no air conditioning we needed to keep the window open so it was quite noisyCecilie from Norway – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

The staff was welcoming and I instantly felt at home. The hotel has a family home feeling, the rooms are spacious and feel cozy. I am a light sleeper so I requested a quiet room facing the garden. I could sleep with the window open because it was so quiet, a really nice experience.
I also loved the legit gym and sauna space. You have to ask for it at reception but it's legit! They even have tennis courts.Daniel from Austria – 28 January 2025 (9/10)
Excellent breakfast with great selection and great care.
Lovely view to the garden.
Metro station few minutes walk away and only a short underground trip to reach the old town.Christopher from United Kingdom – 16 January 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: All perfect especially the peopleSeren from United Kingdom – 1 December 2024 (8/10)
The location is exceptional, quiet but a 10 min walk to Richard Strauss Straße U-bahn to catch trains to the city quickly. Cafes, restaurants and supermarket within 10m walk. Our room was at the back so we didn't hear the road from our balcony.
What could be improved: The drinks at the bar were a bit expensive for us, we would go out for our afternoon coffee and cake.
