What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually care about the place. Check-in was smooth – no pretentious marble lobbies or anything, just efficient people who knew their neighborhood inside and out. The front desk guy gave me this hand-drawn map with little notes about which subway entrance to use and where to grab late-night food, which… I mean, that’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google. The rooms themselves are clean and surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the thick of things. Sure, the décor won’t win any design awards, and the shower pressure is just okay, but everything works and feels well-maintained. I actually slept better than I expected – thick windows really do make a difference when you’re dealing with city traffic.
