Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Nena Apartments München City East, I’ll be honest — the Berg am Laim neighborhood isn’t exactly what you’d picture when you think of Munich. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits quietly on Levelingstraße, and there’s something refreshing about being in a real residential area rather than smack in the tourist chaos. The building itself has that clean, modern German efficiency you’d expect, and I immediately appreciated having my own parking spot right on site — trust me, that’s gold in Munich.
The Neighborhood Reality
Berg am Laim gets overlooked by most visitors, but honestly, I think that’s a mistake. You’re about 15 minutes by S-Bahn from Marienplatz, which means you can actually get into the city center without the usual Munich transport headaches. The area feels authentically local — there’s a decent bakery around the corner, and you’ll see actual Müncheners going about their daily lives instead of tour groups everywhere. It’s quiet at night too, which I mean… after a day of sightseeing, that’s exactly what you want.
The Apartment Experience
The apartment itself surprised me with how spacious it felt. These aren’t cramped hotel rooms — you get a proper living area and a kitchen that’s actually functional. I ended up cooking breakfast a couple of mornings because, well, why not save some euros and enjoy coffee at my own pace? The room was comfortable enough, though nothing fancy — clean lines, good lighting, and a bed that didn’t leave me complaining. The whole setup works perfectly if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two.
What Actually Matters
Here’s what I really appreciated — the staff actually knows what they’re doing. When I had questions about getting to Oktoberfest (yes, I was one of those tourists), they gave me specific S-Bahn directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the city. The Wi-Fi worked without any drama, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow still is in 2024. And that private parking I mentioned? It’s not just a spot behind the building — it’s secure and well-lit, which mattered since I was driving a rental car I definitely couldn’t afford to replace.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.6 rating makes sense once you spend a few days here. Couples seem to really get it — there’s something nice about having your own space to decompress after walking around Munich all day. You’re not paying city center prices, but you’re not stuck in some suburban wasteland either. The S-Bahn connection is reliable (this is Germany, after all), and when you do want to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots, you’re perfectly positioned. I actually discovered some great local spots just by wandering the neighborhood, which wouldn’t have happened if I’d stayed in the Altstadt with everyone else.

Guest Reviews
Modern and neat
Great place and convenience location
What could be improved: Nothing
Spacious room with well-equipped kitchen and dishwasher. Comfortable bathroom with a large shower.
What could be improved: Lack of a second bedside table. Narrow entrance to the parking lot. It took quite a while to get to various attractions by public transportation.
That was really perfect.
Absolutely recommend.
comfort of rooms
Everything was just great. We did not have any problems during our stay. It was comfortable and quiet like we wished for.
Big room.
Kitchen with refridgerator.
Reception interior.
Garage.
What could be improved: Very limited options for breakfast.
Payable garage.
Modern spacious loft style apartments with great amenities. Loved having a full kitchen with huge fridge. Grocery store close by. Very comfy beds.
Very nice room, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchenette (separate induction stove, complete with manual). Big screen TV, easily adjustable for viewing in bed and in the living area.´
What could be improved: A/C temperature couldn't be adjusted properly, it was heating all the time to about 25 degrees, much too hot for sleeping, the only recourse was to switch it off altogether.
Windows can't be opened fully.
All was good. Clean, calm place, ultra comfortable.
What could be improved: The location was also good, just need around 10 minutes drive to city centre.
