You know what caught me off guard about Nena Apartments München City East? It’s actually way more polished than I expected from an apartment-style place. I mean, when you hear “apartments” you sometimes think basic or corporate-feeling, but this spot has that sweet balance of feeling like a proper hotel while giving you the space to actually live a little. The lobby’s got this clean, modern thing going on – not trying too hard to be trendy, just… comfortable, I guess.

The location is honestly pretty smart if you’re not dead set on being right in the tourist thick of things. You’re east of the city center (obviously), which means you get that authentic Munich neighborhood vibe without the constant stream of tour groups. There’s a solid U-Bahn connection nearby – I think it was about a seven-minute walk? – so getting into Marienplatz or over to the Englischer Garten doesn’t require any planning. What I really liked was having actual grocery stores and bakeries within walking distance. You know how sometimes hotel areas feel like food deserts unless you want to eat at the same three overpriced places? Not an issue here.

The rooms themselves are where this place really delivers on that 4-star promise. Mine had this little kitchenette setup that was actually functional – not just a mini-fridge and a sad coffee maker, but a real stovetop and decent counter space. The bed was one of those firm European ones that takes a night to get used to if you’re American, but honestly, I slept better than I do at home. Sound-wise, it’s pretty quiet even though you’re in the city. I could hear some street noise if I really listened for it, but nothing that kept me up. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay – worked fine for video calls back home, which isn’t always a given. One tiny thing: the shower pressure was just okay, not amazing, but the bathroom itself was spotless and had that nice rainfall showerhead situation going on. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.6 rating, I get why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place where everything just… works, you know?

  Spacious room with well-equipped kitchen and dishwasher. Comfortable bathroom with a large shower.
  
  What could be improved: Lack of a second bedside table. Narrow entrance to the parking lot. It took quite a while to get to various attractions by public transportation.

  Modern spacious loft style apartments with great amenities. Loved having a full kitchen with huge fridge. Grocery store close by. Very comfy beds.

  Very nice room, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchenette (separate induction stove, complete with manual). Big screen TV, easily adjustable for viewing in bed and in the living area.´
  
  What could be improved: A/C temperature couldn't be adjusted properly, it was heating all the time to about 25 degrees, much too hot for sleeping, the only recourse was to switch it off altogether.
  Windows can't be opened fully.
