Motel One München-Olympia Gate Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Motel One München-Olympia Gate, you immediately get that “oh, this is way nicer than I expected” feeling. I mean, the name says motel, but honestly — this feels more like a sleek boutique hotel that just happens to be incredibly well-priced. The lobby has this modern, minimalist vibe with pops of color that somehow makes you feel both relaxed and energized at the same time.
Location & Neighborhood
The Schwabing-West location is actually brilliant if you know Munich at all. You’re close enough to the Olympic Park that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you get to experience a more authentic side of the city. The neighborhood has this great mix of locals grabbing coffee and students from the nearby university — it’s the kind of area where you’ll stumble across a fantastic bakery or a cozy beer garden that’s not overrun with tour groups. Couples especially seem to love this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being slightly off the beaten path while still having easy access to everything.
The Room Experience
Here’s what surprised me most: the beds are genuinely incredible for a three-star hotel. I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up actually refreshed instead of feeling like you wrestled with the pillows all night. The room design follows that same smart minimalist approach — everything you need, nothing you don’t, but executed so well that it feels intentional rather than cheap. The bathrooms are compact but cleverly designed, and honestly, the rainfall shower was a nice touch I wasn’t expecting at this price point.
Practical Perks
The breakfast buffet is solid — not fancy, but it covers all the bases with fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety to fuel whatever adventure you’ve got planned. What I really appreciated was the private parking situation, which if you’ve ever tried to park in Munich, you know is basically worth its weight in gold. The staff mentioned that a lot of guests come back repeatedly, and after staying here, I totally get it — sometimes you just want a place that works without any drama or surprises.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that just gets the fundamentals right. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or a fancy spa, but you are getting a genuinely comfortable stay in a city where accommodation can be hit-or-miss. The location gives you that perfect balance of being connected to Munich’s energy while having a quiet retreat to come back to. Plus, when you’re spending your days exploring the city or attending events at the Olympic Park, having a place that prioritizes good sleep and easy logistics over flashy amenities actually makes a lot of sense.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Munich at least two months ahead for major events like Oktoberfest, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near festival grounds.

Reviews of Motel One München-Olympia Gate
Raquel from United States – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was fantastic—convenient access to the tram made getting around easy. We stayed here to attend a concert at Olympia Hall, and the walk through the park to the venue was both easy and scenic. The room was comfortable for our short stay, and we especially enjoyed the lively atmosphere at the hotel bar in the evenings. The outdoor seating was a great spot to relax with a nice Weiss beer!

What could be improved: Would have preferred a few more in room toiletriesMircea from United Kingdom – 2 December 2024 (9/10)
Modern look, clean, friendly staff,.
What could be improved: The king size bed was actually made of 2 single beds, so not really a large bed, you can't sleep in the middle as you would fall between themChing from Hong Kong – 29 August 2024 (8/10)
Yes the facilities are good. Nice view with big windows. Have bike renting and a supermarket nearby. Bar next to the reception on the ground floor.
What could be improved: The room is relatively small with the money.Marta from United Kingdom – 11 August 2024 (8/10)
The hotel is clean, accessible and the rooms are quiet. It’s well connected to the city center. There is a nice outdoor area to relax or have a meal at.
What could be improved: Nothing!Carmen from Netherlands – 7 August 2024 (8/10)
Neat hotel, clean, good location, modern vibes
What could be improved: Packing can't be reserved. Even if you pay for 3 nights of parking, it is not guaranteed you will get a spot again when you leave and re-enter within your stay.Anže from Slovenia – 9 July 2024 (9/10)
Nice and clean motel, with kind staff. Good location – close to Olympiapark.
What could be improved: Rooms are little bit small, without wardrobe.Darren from United Kingdom – 11 June 2024 (9/10)
Location was perfect for a concert at the Olympic Stadium. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The only thing I would have liked to have was tea making facilities in the room.
