Look, I’ll be straight with you about Motel One München-East Side – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first heard “motel” I was honestly expecting something pretty basic, but this spot actually gets what modern travelers want without all the pretentious nonsense you find at fancier places.

The location is really what sold me on it. You’re right in the East Side area (hence the name, obviously), and I mean, you can practically feel the energy of this part of Munich. It’s not touristy-central like Marienplatz, which honestly can be a relief when you just want to grab a decent coffee without fighting through selfie sticks. The neighborhood has this authentic Munich vibe – you know what I mean? Real locals doing real things, not just souvenir shops and overpriced schnitzel. There’s actually some great local spots within walking distance, and the public transport connections are solid if you want to hop over to the more famous bits of the city.

What really impressed me was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between modern and comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge – let’s be realistic about European city hotels – but they’re smartly designed. Everything feels purposeful, not cluttered with random decorative stuff you don’t need. The beds are actually good (and I’m picky about this), the Wi-Fi works properly, and the shower has decent water pressure. Small things, sure, but these are the details that make or break your stay when you’re tired and just want things to work. The whole place has this clean, minimalist aesthetic that somehow manages to feel cozy rather than sterile. I stayed during a pretty busy weekend in spring, and while there was definitely some street noise – it’s a city, after all – it wasn’t anything that kept me up.

The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing, which you’d be surprised how rare that can be. Check-in was smooth, they had actual recommendations for the area (not just the obvious tourist traps), and when I had a small issue with the key card, it got sorted immediately without any drama. Honestly, for a 3-star place with an 8.3 rating, they’re punching above their weight. You’re getting solid value without paying for amenities you probably won’t use anyway – no fancy spa or overpriced room service, just a really well-executed hotel experience. If you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring the city and just needs a reliable, comfortable base to crash at night, this place totally delivers on that promise.

Early hotels booking in Munich requires advance planning during peak festival seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s renowned beer culture and Alpine atmosphere.

  The rom ms where a bit smalöl but that is expected along this brand. The Breakfast was great everything availabe except made to order eggs

  Small comfortable hotel in East Munich. Perfect location for visiting the university with lots of restaurants closeby. The lobby / bar area is a nice hang out spot. Rooms are pretty simply furnished in comparison but spotlessly clean and functional.

  We arrived very early from a long flight from Australia and the staff kindly allowed us into our room to freshen up before heading out for the day. We also chose this particular location as it was an easy walk with our luggage to the train station.

  Clean room, comfortable bed and pillows, working AC, very close to München Ost station, amazing stuff, very friendly and been helpful with every favor we asked them for!
  
  What could be improved: If I had to find something I didn’t like it would be the size of the room (if only it was just a little bit bigger) and not so smooth walls.

  The hotel is well located if you need to access various points in Munich via public transport. It is rather new and very clean. The staff is nice and helpful (thank you Veronika!). We liked the fact that, should a room be available, they will check you in early, without surcharge. Hotels used to do this, but is becoming a rarity. The breakfast is good, but minimal. In the evenings the breakfast space turns into a bar, which can even serve some sandwiches for the hungry tourist caught off-guard by the restaurant closing times in Munich.
  
  What could be improved: Warm food options for breakfast would have been a plus. The breakfast space is quite small and overcrowded most of the time.

  Clean cozy easy to find a parking spot and it also has its own parking. With the train very close to the center, distance theoretically also walkable.
