Overview
You know what struck me first about the Mercure München Süd Messe? It’s actually in a really smart spot if you’re doing business stuff or hitting up the trade fairs – I mean, it’s literally got “Messe” in the name for a reason. The whole area feels more residential and quiet compared to the chaos near Marienplatz, which honestly was perfect after long days of meetings.
The hotel itself has that reliable Mercure vibe – not trying to be boutique-fancy, but definitely a step up from your basic chain hotel. The lobby’s got this clean, modern German efficiency thing going on (in the best way), and check-in was surprisingly smooth even during what looked like a busy conference week. I really appreciated how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well – they pointed me toward this little Turkish place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are well, exactly what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and those blackout curtains that Germans do so well. The 8.0 rating makes total sense; it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s nothing to complain about either.
What I found really practical was the whole setup for getting around Munich. You’re not right in the tourist heart, but honestly that worked out great because parking wasn’t a nightmare and you can still hop on the S-Bahn pretty easily to get into the city center. The breakfast was actually better than I expected – proper German bread selection and decent coffee, none of that watery hotel stuff. I stayed during a quieter period in early fall, so I can’t speak to how crazy it gets during Oktoberfest or the big trade shows, but the neighborhood felt pleasantly residential in the evenings. There’s something to be said for a place where you can actually get a good night’s sleep without sirens and party noise all night. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy rooftop bars and trendy cocktail spots, this probably isn’t your scene – but if you want a reliable base for exploring Munich without the tourist markup and crowds, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice.
Munich’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with Alpine charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this traditionally German city.

Guest Reviews
the location and the stay in the hotel
What could be improved: the price was a little bit too high, but there was no other choice for us and we took the last available room. Room was not cleaned everyday, but it might be related to the Easter holidays.
The location was great and convenient. There’s a bus stop right outside of the hotel so it is convenient to take a bus to go to the metro. I didn’t opt for breakfast so can’t say much. On top of that, I reached the hotel around 10am and the staff members managed to accommodate checking in as early as 1pm and they were nice enough to take care of our luggages during those span of hours while we went out. Definitely recommend. There isn’t any convenience shops nearby but the hotel lobby does have a coffee machine and snacks to you can buy from if you’re feeling hungry.
What could be improved: My personal preference would be to have still water in my room instead of sparkling water but that’s about it.
Comfortable, clean, friendly staff
What could be improved: It is not close to the metro but the bus connections
are good only up to a certain hour.
Nice clean rooms, a restaurant, some beverages and food on premises. Close to a bus stop that can take you to a metro (U5).
All the services and the staff were great
What could be improved: Some neighbors were loud after 22:00
Clean, modern and very good service
What could be improved: The lack of restaurant for dinner - but breakfast was splendid
The Staff was super friendly and yet professional
Great sized rooms, easy check-in, fully equipped bathroom
What could be improved: Location was far from city centre with limited public transport options
Was very delicious
My friends and I went here for oktoberfest and upon arrival, reception gave us a map and instructions for using the train and the best way to get there, which made getting around so much easier and I really appreciated this.
