You know what? The Mercure in Neuperlach Süd isn’t going to win any beauty contests from the outside – it’s got that practical German hotel look that screams “built for business travelers” – but honestly, that’s kind of refreshing after staying in too many places trying way too hard to be Instagram-worthy. I mean, sometimes you just want a solid 4-star that does what it says on the tin, and this place delivers on that front. The lobby’s got this clean, no-nonsense vibe with decent lighting and staff who actually seem to know what they’re doing during check-in (which, let’s be real, is rarer than it should be these days). The whole area feels properly suburban Munich – you’re not in the thick of tourist chaos, but you’re also not stranded in the middle of nowhere.

The rooms are… well, they’re Mercure rooms, which means they’ve got that signature purple accent thing going on and everything works the way it’s supposed to. Decent beds, actually hot showers, and – this matters more than people think – proper blackout curtains that don’t leave that annoying strip of light creeping in at 5 AM. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; Neuperlach Süd isn’t exactly party central, so you can actually sleep without earplugs. The breakfast setup is pretty standard but they do a proper German spread with actual decent coffee, not that watery hotel stuff that tastes like regret. Parking’s straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Munich will tell you is basically a luxury.

Here’s the thing though – this location either works for you or it doesn’t, and there’s not much middle ground. If you’re the type who needs to stumble out of your hotel straight into Marienplatz, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re doing business around the southern districts, or you don’t mind a U-Bahn ride to get into the city center (it’s actually pretty well connected), then you’re getting solid value for money. The 7.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t let you down either. I’d definitely stay here again if I was in the area for work, especially during busy conference seasons when the city center hotels jack up their prices. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just quietly do their job well, and this Mercure falls squarely into that category.

  Good location! Nice facility with pleasant staff. Very accommodating. Upon arrival we found room on 6th floor to be quite warm. Since there is no air conditioning we asked for a fan and they sent it promptly! Grocery store was very near as well!

  What could be improved: The heaters weren’t working, something which I wasn’t informed about upon arrival. When I asked the reason they said they were aware and if I wanted they could switch me to another hotel nearby at no cost which I thought was good behavior on their end but customers should be notified of such things when they first arrive, not after they ask what’s going on…
