Overview
First Impressions
Walking into MAXIMILIAN MUNICH Apartments & Hotel feels like discovering one of those perfectly kept secrets that locals don’t really want to share. The building sits right on Hochbrückenstrasse in the Altstadt-Lehel district, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better spot to plant yourself in Munich. This four-star property has that understated elegance thing down pat — not flashy, but you immediately sense the quality in everything from the lobby’s clean lines to the way staff actually remember your name after one conversation.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. The Marienplatz is just a few minutes’ walk away, which means you can catch the famous Glockenspiel without planning your entire day around it. What’s even better is how couples seem to absolutely adore this spot (they rate the location 9.6, which is pretty remarkable), and I get why. You can stroll along the Isar River, duck into cozy beer gardens, or explore the Viktualienmarkt without dealing with complicated public transport. There’s also private parking right at the hotel, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Munich’s city center by car will appreciate.
The Apartment Experience
The room situation here is where things get interesting — you’re not just getting a standard hotel setup. Many of the accommodations are actually apartment-style, which means you get proper space to spread out and, in some cases, kitchen facilities that let you grab fresh ingredients from the nearby markets. The design feels distinctly Munich but not in that heavy, traditional way that can feel a bit much after a few days. Everything’s thoughtfully laid out, and you know what really impressed me? The repeat guest rate here is notably higher than most other properties, which tells you something about how people feel once they’ve actually stayed.
Morning Routine Done Right
Breakfast here covers all the bases without trying to be everything to everyone. They’ve got a solid buffet setup, vegetarian options that actually taste good (not just an afterthought), and — this is clutch if you’re planning early morning adventures — breakfast to go options. I mean, sometimes you want to grab something quick and head out to beat the crowds at Neuschwanstein or catch an early train to Salzburg. The fact that they make this easy rather than giving you grief about it says a lot about how they think about guest experience.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being in the absolute center of Munich with actually feeling like a place you’d want to return to at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The 8.7 rating reflects what you experience — solid quality across the board without any major disappointments. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Munich trip before you’ve even checked out, and honestly, that high repeat guest rate makes perfect sense once you’ve been there.
Munich hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Bavaria’s capital, known for its impressive architecture and world-famous beer culture.

Guest Reviews
Lovely staff who went out of their way to help, great location, very comfy bed and excellent shower.
Rooms are very spacious—shower was great!
What could be improved: Hard to find entrance initially for us but the staff came out to meet us on the street. Construction with cranes outside the window so the view for rooms facing that way was into the construction site but it was fine not loud—just unsightly. Those staying at the Mandarin Oriental had the same view!
Room was very nice
Nice garden
Location is great
What could be improved: Somewhat expensive. Would be nice for their to be power on the top of the desk
Location worked well for us as close to S and trains
What could be improved: Wi-Fi was weak at times
The apartment was spacious and well equipped. The reception staff were welcoming and the room maintenance was cheerful and discrete.
What could be improved: Breakfast was grossly overpriced. We had not been forewarned that the balcony was surrounded by scaffolding. If the weather had been warmer, this would have been a major disappointment.
Location is excellent, but don't be put off by the huge construction in front of it. It's very quiet, but because of the construction and rerouting of streets some Uber drivers get confused how to reach the front of the hotel. Room is very spacious, it is like a studio with cooking facilities. Bathroom is large with a tub and a shower inside. The staff recommended two nearby. We tried one "Gusto und Vino", which was excellent. We also liked a nearby Roma cafe and restaurant.
What could be improved: The breakfast room was well appointed and had a variety of food items, but on the skimpy side. I ate there once.
Very spacious room in the center with all you need
What could be improved: Rooms are clean but need an upgrade at some point .
Parking is tricky when you have a large SUV or something … very narrow
Staff and location
What could be improved: None
I really liked the room it was like a house. The balcony is amazing. I stayed at different luxury hotels in Munich before and Hotel Maximillian is the best one. Linda helped me so much thanks to her. It was my birthday and all the staff helped me to enjoy my birthday. I would definitely recommend. The location is amazing you can walk everywhere. Also the hotel is very safe. See you later again!
What could be improved: Everything is perfect.
Location, staff, breakfast
What could be improved: Beds a little uncomfortable,
