Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about MAXIMILIAN MUNICH? It’s got this whole apartment-hotel hybrid thing figured out in a way that actually works. I mean, most places that try to do both end up being mediocre at everything, but this one – honestly, it feels like staying in a friend’s really nice flat, except your friend has excellent taste and a proper concierge downstairs.

The apartments themselves are what sold me. They’re not those sterile extended-stay boxes you get at chain places – there’s actual character here. The kitchens are properly equipped (I’m talking real knives and decent cookware, not plastic nonsense), which matters if you’re planning to hit the Viktualienmarkt and cook with some of that incredible local produce. The living spaces have this modern Bavarian thing going on – clean lines but warm, you know? And the beds… well, let’s just say I slept better than I have in months. The soundproofing is surprisingly good too, which is huge in Munich where even the residential streets can get lively.

What really impressed me, though, was how the staff just gets it. They’re not hovering like typical hotel employees, but they’re not absent like most apartment rentals either. The guy at the front desk – think his name was Thomas – actually drew me a hand-sketched map to avoid the tourist crowds near Marienplatz. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google. The location itself is brilliant if you want to feel like you’re living in Munich rather than just visiting it. You’re close enough to walk to the main sights when you feel like it, but you’re also in a neighborhood where people actually live and work. There’s a fantastic bakery about two blocks away that opens ungodly early and makes these pretzels that’ll ruin you for airport pretzels forever. The tram connections are solid – you can get pretty much anywhere without dealing with rental car headaches or expensive taxis. Parking’s available if you do drive, but honestly, you probably won’t need to once you’re settled in. I stayed for five nights in October and barely touched my rental car except for a day trip to the castles.

Munich hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Bavaria’s capital, known for its impressive architecture and world-famous beer culture.

Reviews

  • Michelle from Australia – 25 May 2025 (9/10)

Lovely staff who went out of their way to help, great location, very comfy bed and excellent shower.

  • Ben from United States – 21 May 2025 (9/10)

Rooms are very spacious—shower was great!

What could be improved: Hard to find entrance initially for us but the staff came out to meet us on the street. Construction with cranes outside the window so the view for rooms facing that way was into the construction site but it was fine not loud—just unsightly. Those staying at the Mandarin Oriental had the same view!

  • Jim from United States – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

    Room was very nice
    Nice garden
    Location is great

What could be improved: Somewhat expensive. Would be nice for their to be power on the top of the desk

  • Nancy from United States – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

Location worked well for us as close to S and trains

What could be improved: Wi-Fi was weak at times

  • David from United Kingdom – 4 April 2025 (8/10)

The apartment was spacious and well equipped. The reception staff were welcoming and the room maintenance was cheerful and discrete.

What could be improved: Breakfast was grossly overpriced. We had not been forewarned that the balcony was surrounded by scaffolding. If the weather had been warmer, this would have been a major disappointment.

  • Edvardas from Portugal – 1 April 2025 (9/10)

Location is excellent, but don't be put off by the huge construction in front of it. It's very quiet, but because of the construction and rerouting of streets some Uber drivers get confused how to reach the front of the hotel. Room is very spacious, it is like a studio with cooking facilities. Bathroom is large with a tub and a shower inside. The staff recommended two nearby. We tried one "Gusto und Vino", which was excellent. We also liked a nearby Roma cafe and restaurant.

What could be improved: The breakfast room was well appointed and had a variety of food items, but on the skimpy side. I ate there once.

  • Marc from Slovakia – 19 March 2025 (8/10)

Very spacious room in the center with all you need

What could be improved: Rooms are clean but need an upgrade at some point .

Parking is tricky when you have a large SUV or something … very narrow

  • Ali from Turkey – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

    Staff and location

    What could be improved: None

  • Selin from United Kingdom – 15 January 2025 (9/10)

I really liked the room it was like a house. The balcony is amazing. I stayed at different luxury hotels in Munich before and Hotel Maximillian is the best one. Linda helped me so much thanks to her. It was my birthday and all the staff helped me to enjoy my birthday. I would definitely recommend. The location is amazing you can walk everywhere. Also the hotel is very safe. See you later again!

What could be improved: Everything is perfect.

  • Orla from Ireland – 9 January 2025 (8/10)

    Location, staff, breakfast

What could be improved: Beds a little uncomfortable,
