Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Maritim Hotel München, you immediately get that solid, dependable vibe that comes with a well-established four-star property. The lobby has this classic German hotel feel — not flashy, but everything’s exactly where it should be. What struck me right away was how the staff seemed to actually know what they were doing, which honestly isn’t always a given these days. You can tell this place has been hosting travelers for years and has figured out the formula.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about the location on Goethestraße — it’s in Ludwigsvorstadt, which means you’re close enough to Munich‘s center without being right in the tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to Marienplatz in about 15 minutes, but you’re also near the Hauptbahnhof, which is incredibly handy if you’re doing day trips or arriving by train. The couples who stay here clearly get it — there’s something nice about being able to duck back to your hotel easily after a long day of sightseeing. Plus, the neighborhood has some decent local spots that aren’t completely overrun with tour groups.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what I’d call “German efficient” — everything worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. It’s not going to win any design awards, but you know what? Sometimes you just want a place where the shower has good pressure and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. The windows actually open (which I always appreciate), and if you’re facing the right direction, you get some nice views of the city. The soundproofing is pretty solid too, considering you’re in the middle of Munich.
Breakfast and Practical Matters
The breakfast buffet is honestly one of those things that makes you remember why you chose a proper hotel over some trendy boutique place. They’ve got all the German classics — good bread, quality cold cuts, proper coffee — plus enough international options that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. Parking is available right at the hotel, which if you’ve ever tried to park in Munich, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold. It’s not cheap, but it’s there, and sometimes that’s all that matters.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the repeat guest factor — apparently people keep coming back here more than at most other hotels, and I can see why. It’s reliable in a way that’s actually refreshing. The location score speaks for itself, and the staff has that professional-but-friendly approach that makes business travelers and tourists equally comfortable. You’re not getting cutting-edge design or Instagram-worthy amenities, but you’re getting a solid base for exploring Munich that won’t let you down. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
The concierge service in Munich can arrange exclusive castle tours, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize day trips to Neuschwanstein Castle and the Bavarian Alps.

Guest Reviews
Location was fantastic. Feet away from the HBF. Very good breakfast, very nice room and bed. Very good hotel if you are visiting Munich.
Nice and near the centre
Location was good, room was nice, pool was relaxing
What could be improved: AC didn’t work well, didn’t like that you have to pay extra for robe and sauna, people at breakfast were rude and inconsistent. One day they ask you if you want coffee, the next day they do not. Need to rotate hot foods at breakfast.
Clean, comfortable, very good breakfast. There were good restaurants around. Pool was quiet. Direct access from car park to the hotel, close to a railway station.
What could be improved: Seemed to be in a bit of a rough area, the road the hotel is on is currently one way (Google Maps didn’t seem to know this), the car park is not obvious (at least in a right hand drive car - from the forecourt go through a passage to the left of the hotel and do an immediate U-turn to the left - in fairness it is obvious when you know), my wife felt the staff could have helped her with the bags rather than just watching (we had unloaded some cases while I parked the car).
Everything. Conceirge, pool, breakfast, location, piano bar. It was great
What could be improved: I found one or two staff at reception to be rude at times. I had an issue where too much money was taken for the stay and it took a lot of coming and going to get the issue resolved and this was down to the shortness of 1 or 2 staff members
First time using the pool / sauna, well worth the money
What could be improved: Fire alarm at 4am with very limited communication from staff
Nice pool, comfy beds, comfortable room - great place to stay
What could be improved: No Usb ports to charge electricals ie phone etc.
Great location, comfortable bed (no kettle or iron though, apparently we needed to have booked a better room). Excellent staff, nice bar - one of the best negronis ever, ably mixed by Lisa.
What could be improved: Didn’t appreciate no iron or kettle. Also, the water pressure in the bathroom tap was so high it was difficult not to cover everything in water!
Great location, nice staff, parking, clean, nice design
What could be improved: The bed was not so comfortable
